Deadpool and Batman Recreate a Classic Wolverine and Hulk Cover That Fans Will Love

An iconic event from Wolverine’s history is resurrected by the surprising team of Deadpool and Batman. These two unusual partners will intersect later this year, allowing fans to witness the fusion of the Marvel and DC universes once more. In September, Marvel will debut Deadpool/Batman #1, penned by Zeb Wells and illustrated by Greg Capullo. This will be followed in November by DC’s release of Batman/Deadpool #1, scripted by Grant Morrison and drawn by Dan Mora. Marvel has been gradually revealing details about the collaboration, and the recent cover unveiling pays tribute to Wolverine and another Marvel character.

Three unique cover designs for the first issue of Deadpool/Batman are created by artists Mark Bagley, Ryan Stegman, and Skottie Young. Each cover highlights the central theme – a face-off between Deadpool and Batman in Gotham City, where Deadpool has been hired for a task. The question remains: will Batman aid him or bring about his downfall?

In Bagley’s unique Foil Variation, Deadpool and Batman are shown teaming up against The Joker, the Infamous Harlequin of Chaos; Ryan Stegman’s Tribute Version flips Todd McFarlane’s legendary Incredible Hulk #340 cover with Deadpool and Batman standing in for Wolverine and Hulk; and Young’s Variation swaps out the Bat-symbol for Deadpool’s emblem in his design.

Or, more simply:

1. On Bagley’s special Foil Cover, Deadpool teams up with Batman against The Joker; Stegman’s Homage Cover replicates McFarlane’s Incredible Hulk #340 cover, replacing Wolverine and Hulk with Deadpool and Batman; and Young’s Variant Cover replaces the Bat-symbol with Deadpool’s logo.

Additionally, in this special Deadpool/Batman issue, you’ll find supplementary stories showcasing additional Marvel and DC superhero pairings. For instance, Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert have teamed up for a Daredevil and Green Lantern story, while Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson have created an engaging Captain America and Wonder Woman tale. Furthermore, Jeff the Land Shark and Krypto will make their appearance in a unique collaboration by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru.

Editor Mark Basso announced that they’re exploring every nook and cranny of both Marvel and DC universes, uncovering hidden connections between characters, which the creators are finding incredibly fun. They can hardly wait for fans to share in their excitement as they discover these mind-blowing moments! Plus, there are even more surprises in store, so stay tuned for further developments!

Zdarsky found it extraordinary in every sense, “This experience is beyond description!” he expressed. “Captain America and Wonder Woman represent the finest from their respective realms, champions of tranquility. Delving into their complex past and witnessing their dynamic interaction has been an exhilarating journey.

Thompson expressed his excitement, stating, ‘It’s truly an honor for Jeff to represent Marvel in this groundbreaking storyline where DC’s iconic character Krypto joins forces. For comic enthusiasts, the collaboration between DC and Marvel is a rarity, so having Jeff play a role in this unique historical event with Krypto, and Gurihiru and I being part of the creative process to share this story with readers… let me tell you, our job can be quite amazing at times.’
