The August 2025 update for “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” is now available on PlayStation 5! Version 1.008 from Kojima Productions includes minor adjustments and notably resolves a recurring camera lag problem players have faced since the game’s release in June. The update has been positively received, but there are still issues to tackle in upcoming updates.
“Hey Porters! PlayStation Studios have just released Update 1.08 for ‘Death Stranding 2.’ This update aims to resolve a problem causing the camera or environment to seem choppy during movement, as well as making some smaller adjustments and enhancements.”
Initially, there was an issue with the game’s camera that occasionally led to choppy visuals in the environment when players adjusted the camera angle. This problem persisted even in performance mode, which is designed to optimize resources and prevent such issues. This has been a long-standing issue since the game’s release, with players attempting various solutions like repairing storage and switching between photo mode, but none offered a permanent fix.
Reddit user deathrattlehead expressed frustration, stating that the game’s choppy camera movement is severely affecting their experience. It’s annoying to him because, with a stable frame rate, he suspects there might be a bug causing the issue. He expresses hope that the developers will address and fix this problem soon.
Although it was bothersome to some gamers, the camera problem didn’t significantly disrupt the game’s overall immersive quality for most. In fact, some players eventually became so engrossed in the game that they forgot to even acknowledge the issue over time.

As a devoted fan, I must say that compared to the turbulent rollout of the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach update we witnessed back in early July, Patch 1.007 has been a breath of fresh air so far. The previous update was aimed at rectifying some game issues, but unfortunately, it ended up creating more problems for certain players than it solved. Many gamers reported that their PS5s started overheating post-update, causing the internal cooling fans to become unusually loud, and also experienced other peculiar glitches.
On the Beach, as specific details are typically scarce for PS5 games. Since Sony doesn’t maintain a comprehensive update log for its PS5 titles, information about patches often relies on developers sharing it. Therefore, players might encounter issues and report them.
For gamers eagerly waiting for more content in the game, this latest update doesn’t seem to offer any hints regarding future updates. As of now, no official announcements about post-launch content have been made, and game director Hideo Kojima mentioned back in June that he had already begun work on his next venture.
Could you share your opinions about the recently applied update? I’m curious if the camera jerkiness problem has been addressed, and whether there are any new issues that you happen to know about.
