Kojima Productions is creating an animated series called Death Stranding Isolations (currently the working title). The series is being produced by E&H Production and will be available to stream on Disney+ in 2027.
This new series centers around a young man and woman embarking on an adventure. While it’s a separate story, it shares similar themes and ideas with the video game Death Stranding, and will be visually striking thanks to its unique animation style – a blend of boldness and subtlety, all hand-drawn.

Story Synopsis
Once, there was an explosion…
When people die, their spirits sometimes cross over into our world, desperately seeking contact with the living. But this connection causes a catastrophic explosion – known as the Death Stranding – that destroys entire countries and collapses civilization. Those who survive are left isolated and disconnected. Now, on the verge of extinction, a remarkable porter embarks on a journey to deliver essential supplies and the hopes of those sending them, attempting to rebuild connections and offer a chance for humanity’s survival.
A new animated series based on Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game, Death Stranding, is being produced by the rising Japanese animation studio E&H Production. Directed by Takayuki Sano, the series captures the original game’s themes and atmosphere with striking yet delicate visuals, all brought to life through impressive hand-drawn animation.
As I was totally absorbed in Sam Bridges’ journey across America, trying to reconnect everyone, I started thinking about all the other people out there dealing with this new reality in their own ways. There’s this older guy who’s searching for a way to be saved that doesn’t involve connecting with others, which is pretty different from Sam’s mission. Then there’s this fierce woman who seems to want a world full of constant battles. And I learned about a young boy who actually blames Sam for everything! It’s fascinating – and kind of sad – how one girl has just completely accepted being alone. It really makes you think about what connection, and disconnection, mean in this world.
With the world facing its final moments, everything hinges on a new chapter in the story of Death Stranding, where the destinies and last hopes of humanity collide.
