In a recent interview with Bloody Disgusting, director Sarnoski discussed his vision for adapting Hideo Kojima’s innovative game. He suggests the adaptation will be a dark and intense experience for fans.
Don’t Expect A Retread of The Death Stranding Games
In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Sarnoski explained that the upcoming Death Stranding movie will feature an original story. Although it will explore similar themes and concepts as the game, he intends to approach them in a fresh and unique way.
He explained the game will likely be quite dark, given its inclusion of ghosts and other unsettling elements. However, he believes this darkness will be unique and explore heavier themes in a different way than other games.
The “darkness” mentioned could refer to the dangerous creatures called Beached Things that players encounter in the game. In a recent interview, Sarnoski explained that while Death Stranding won’t be as bleak as his previous film, it will strike a balance between darkness and hope, remaining true to the game’s overall themes.
“Death Stranding” explores complex themes such as life, death, loneliness, relationships, and how people are separated by distance – both physically and across generations,” he said. “Despite tackling these serious topics, it’s also designed to be an exciting adventure, much like a thrilling action movie.”
What Else is Known About the Death Stranding Movie?
Details about the upcoming Death Stranding movie are scarce, but the news we have is promising. The script, written by Sarnoski, is complete, and he’s said filming is planned for 2027 in Northern Ireland and Iceland. Fans will be glad to hear that director Kojima is pleased with the script.
Honestly, we don’t know for sure who’s going to be in it yet, but Kojima’s hinted at a mix of fresh faces and characters we already know and love from the first Death Stranding.
