With no new Dino Crisis games available, any title offering survival gameplay against frighteningly smart dinosaurs is worth a look. A good example is Deathground from Jaw Drop Games, which will be available in early access on PC starting October 7th. You can watch the newest trailer below.
The game initially feels a lot like Alien: Isolation, even featuring a motion sensor to keep track of the dinosaurs. However, it doesn’t take long for them to find you, leading to a frantic attempt to escape (if you’ve finished the main goal). The gameplay also borrows elements from Dead by Daylight – you can slide under pallets and hide in lockers to evade the dinosaurs.
However, watch out – if a Utahraptor detects a player’s scent, it can pull them out of hiding spots like under desks or inside barrels and attack. You can use firearms and throwables to improve your chances, but they probably won’t be very effective.
Deathground will be available for $14.99 when it first launches in early access. We’ll share more information soon about what’s included and what’s planned for the future. You can also read our interview from 2023 with the developers, where they discuss the game’s features and how realistic the dinosaurs’ behavior is.
