2025 was a record-breaking year for Demon Slayer, with the first film in the Infinity Castle trilogy earning over 100 billion yen worldwide. It became the highest-grossing anime film ever, exceeding even the success of Mugen Train, and kept fans talking for months. While the film premiered in Japan in July and internationally in September, an official streaming release date hasn’t been announced. It’s still playing in theaters in Japan and other locations, further delaying its availability online. Plus, there’s been no news yet about the second part of the story, leaving fans eager to see how the battle between the Demon Slayers and the Upper Moons will continue.
Fans are celebrating the birthday of Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, on February 8th! To mark the occasion, the anime’s official website revealed a brand-new, adorable chibi-style illustration of Giyu wearing a light-colored outfit and holding flowers. The artwork features a blue color scheme, reflecting his water-based powers. Ufotable is also promoting new merchandise featuring this special illustration, which is available on their official webshop and social media.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Trilogy Features Giyu’s Best Battle Yet

Giyu is the first Hashira we meet in the series and plays a key role in starting Tanjiro’s journey as a Demon Slayer. Although he’s so important, he doesn’t show up very often after first meeting Tanjiro and Nezuko. Still, Giyu’s strength as a Hashira is undeniable, as seen during the Mount Natagumo Arc where he saved Tanjiro and swiftly defeated a powerful demon.
Before the Infinity Castle Arc, Giyu doesn’t often have opportunities to demonstrate his abilities. However, he stood out early on when he fought alongside Tanjiro against Akaza. It was the first time they faced a villain of such immense power as equals. Giyu was crucial in defeating Akaza, an Upper Rank Three demon, and the battle even triggered the awakening of his Demon Slayer Mark, greatly increasing his strength. Throughout the fight, Giyu and Tanjiro consistently protected each other.
Watching Akaza fall was incredible, though both Tanjiro and Inosuke were left badly hurt. The movie closes with them collapsing right after Akaza’s defeat. But the danger isn’t over – the Demon Corps still needs to find Muzan Kibutsuki. It looks like the next installments will show them facing off against the other powerful Upper Rank demons, as One and Two are still out there and incredibly dangerous.
