Voice actor Elias Toufexis, famous for playing Adam Jensen in Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, has shared that he’s currently involved in several projects, though he’s contractually obligated to keep most of them secret. However, he confirmed that none of these upcoming roles are connected to the Deus Ex series, blaming the rights holders for the lack of new games and calling them “psychopaths” on social media.
When asked if he was involved in any projects connected to the classic game Deus Ex, Toufexis jokingly replied that it wasn’t happening because those in leadership positions are “psychopaths.” He did confirm, however, that he is currently collaborating with Bungie on Marathon.
Talk of a new game following Deus Ex: Mankind Divided surfaced in January 2024, but it appears development was cancelled after two years. The game was reportedly being worked on by Eidos Montreal, the studio behind both Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. It’s currently unclear if this cancelled project was intended to be a direct sequel, a fresh start, or a remake of an existing title.
In April 2025, rumors resurfaced about the franchise, suggesting Eidos Montreal was trying to get a new game made by presenting proposals to different companies. Sadly, these efforts didn’t pan out, as potential partners felt the game was too specialized and considered it a financial risk.
Although the story of Adam Jensen hasn’t continued since the 2016 game Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the first Deus Ex is being re-released as a remastered version by Aspyr Media. Originally scheduled for February, Deus Ex Remastered has been delayed so the developers can ensure it meets player expectations and provides the best possible gaming experience.
The Deus Ex series is a set of immersive, cyberpunk games where players control different characters – JC Denton in the first game (2000), Alex Denton in Invisible War (2003), and Adam Jensen in Human Revolution (2011) and Mankind Divided (2016). These games are set in a future world struggling with problems like war, disease, and inequality, where people commonly use technological augmentations to enhance their bodies and minds.
I’m a huge fan of the Deus Ex games, and what always gets me is how a seemingly straightforward mission always spirals into this massive, intricate conspiracy. It’s never just what it seems! The first Deus Ex was amazing because you could approach objectives in so many different ways – total freedom! And then Human Revolution and Mankind Divided really blew me away with how detailed and immersive their worlds were, plus the stories and characters were just fantastic. They really built something special with those games.
….no Deus Ex because the people in charge are psychopaths.
