Devil May Cry 6 Feels Inevitable as DMC 5 Sales Set All-Time Record, Seven Years After Release

The success of Devil May Cry 5 is borderline mind-blowing at this point.

Capcom’s popular action game, originally released in 2019, continues to be a huge success and has recently achieved its highest ever yearly sales.

I was so excited to see the latest sales numbers for Devil May Cry 5! Apparently, it sold an incredible 2.7 million copies in the last year – up to March 2026, according to the publisher. That’s amazing!

Previously, the title had sold 2.1 million copies – and that was just in its first year, 2019! Now, total sales have reached 12.9 million.

It’s rare for something to stay popular for so long, but it’s important to keep a few things in mind.

Devil May Cry 5 has been discounted quite a bit over the past seven years, and Capcom is well-known for using strategic sales to maintain consistent interest in their games.

Furthermore, the surprisingly popular anime adaptation, Devil May Cry: The Animated Series, shouldn’t be overlooked, even though it received some criticism regarding its quality.

I’ve noticed Devil May Cry’s anime is doing for the game what Cyberpunk: Edgerunners did for Cyberpunk 2077 – it’s really giving it a big boost and getting more people excited about it.

But still, 2.7 million sales within 12 months, seven whole years after launch — that’s insane.

If Capcom isn’t developing Devil May Cry 6—which rumors have suggested is in the works, along with a potential remake of the original game—they really need to re-evaluate what they’re focusing on.
