In the unfolding of Episode 6, it gradually reveals that the Gemini Killer, portrayed by David Dastmalchian, is now in Dexter’s line of sight. After a nerve-wracking exchange of intellect between the two characters, the scene ends with Dastmalchian’s character lying on the floor, marked as the Bay Harbor Butcher’s next victim.

In an unexpected twist at the end of the episode, Dexter finds himself in a shocking situation while riding in Leon Prater’s (played by Peter Dinklage) helicopter. To his surprise, Gareth, whom Dexter had earlier killed, suddenly appears, played by David Dastmalchian. What makes this encounter even more astonishing is that Gareth had a twin, which aligns perfectly with his pattern of killing in pairs.

At San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), David Dastmalchian, known to some from the movie “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”, spoke with Russ Milheim of TopMob about the major surprise unveiled by director Gareth.

The actor hinted that he hopes fans might revisit episodes and begin to discern subtleties in his performances, as he put considerable effort into adding intricate details that avid fans, who are particularly fond of the series, would appreciate.

Apart from this, Dastmalchian playfully emphasized Dexter’s confusion about the circumstances, pointing out that “‘Dexter has never dabbled in the realm of the supernatural,’” and that “‘you’ve never encountered someone who could surpass death,’“.

Dastmalchian added to Dexter’s puzzlement, mentioning that he’s not used to dealing with the supernatural and that what they were experiencing was a first for him.

Dastmalchian hinted that there’s an astonishing secret behind Gareth’s abilities, promising a surprising revelation for the audience. Furthermore, he mentioned that his character, Gareth, has some unique first-time moments in the series, Dexter.

Dexter: Resurrection Star David Dastmalchian on That Shocking Twin Serial Killer Twist

“Dexter’s Never Played Around In the Supernatural Space.”

  • TopMob: “That huge Twin twist. What was it like knowing that that was just around the corner, and now you get to embody an entirely new killer, and how does she differ from Gareth?”

David Dastmalchian expresses his aspiration that viewers, after watching the current season of ‘Dexter: Resurrection,’ might feel compelled to revisit it. He suggests that these viewers will begin to recognize minor distinctions in his performances, such as his mannerisms, preferred hand usage, and eye movements. Dastmalchian takes pride in adding numerous subtle details that dedicated fans of the series would appreciate.

In simpler terms, I have always found that moment thrilling – the anticipation of leisurely strolling toward the helicopter on the helipad. This walk would typically cause Dexter to pale significantly, as he encounters a deceased individual approaching him directly.

Dexter has never dabbled in the realm of the supernatural. They haven’t brought anyone back from the dead. While they may conjure images of ghosts within people’s minds, no one has ever witnessed someone defying death. Therefore, the method by which Gareth achieves this feat will be a stunning revelation for the viewers.

  • TopMob: “Episode Six is when you really get the spotlight. I want to talk about that exchange you have with Dexter, where it’s just like you guys something’s wrong between the two of you, and just that dance that you guys do. What was it like filming that?”

The experience was thrilling since Michael C. Hall has spent so much time embodying Dexter, and he’s simply such an exceptional actor. His talent is undeniable, and he’s incredibly skilled. When I found myself in a confrontation with him, not only in his apartment but also knowing he was up to something, it became clear that our encounter wouldn’t be physical combat. Instead, it would be a game of mental chess, focusing on exploiting each other’s vulnerabilities, as the battle was purely psychological.

In this discussion, there are instances where it seems as if we’re rekindling a friendship between two people. They are individuals who, despite their peculiarities and seemingly unique places in the world, find common ground and connect. However, they also exhibit signs of mutual suspicion, much like wary predators, each waiting for a chance to strike. In essence, it’s somewhat reminiscent of Wallace Shawn’s character in ‘The Princess Bride,’ where the question becomes who will outwit the other.

In addition, Dastmalchian explained the intricacies of Gareth’s significant moment in the scene where Dexter usually uses his kill table – however, on this occasion, it was just the floor that served as the stage for this event.

In my opinion, what made my death scene interesting was that Dexter rarely kills serial killers who aren’t already on his table or wrapped in plastic. This meant I got to play a unique scene where he had to improvise and handle the situation as required. It was enjoyable for me because when we were setting it up, I told them that this wasn’t usually how things went down. They replied that it was indeed a first for them. My character, Gareth, often provided such novel experiences in the world of Dexter.

David Dastmalchian on the Pressure of Joining Dexter’s Serial Killer Rogue Gallery

Dexter Has “Never Faced an Adversary Quite Like This.”

  • TopMob: “The expectations of being one of the killers on Dexter’s list is high. What was it like just joining that Pantheon and the pressure that inherently comes with it?”

David Dastmalchian: It was pretty awesome to not only play a serial killer in the world of Dexter, but my character has a secret so incredible and perplexing that Dexter has never encountered an opponent like this before. So, it’s really satisfying to know I have the edge and can outsmart Dexter at his own game.

As I stepped onto the set of this massive IP, I couldn’t help but feel the weight of it all. You see, I was about to breathe life into characters in a universe that has been cherished by countless millions for years, a world where artists have poured their hearts and souls for decades. The thought of doing justice to such a beloved creation was both daunting and humbling.

Fortunately, the team was nothing but supportive and encouraging. I was blown away by the quality of the scripts, and the acting talent this season is off the charts! It’s an honor to be part of this journey, and I can’t wait for you all to see it.

  • TopMob: “It’s an insane cast that you get to interact with. What was it like working with those dynamics and just getting everyone who has their super specific, unique killer, and then just being able to figure out how these people interact or don’t interact?”

My character comes across as quite elitist, as if he looks down on everyone else when it comes to conversation. But stepping onto set for the first time and sharing a scene with Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Eric Stonestreet, Neil Patrick Harris, Kristen Ritter, and Michael C. Hall was like being surrounded by an incredible ensemble of talented actors who breathed life into their complex, morally ambiguous characters. There isn’t a single innocent among them; each character harbors some dark secrets and menacing qualities. It felt like joining the Legion of Doom.
