Digimon Story: Time Stranger large-scale expansion DLC announced

Bandai Namco and Media.Vision have revealed a major downloadable expansion for Digimon Story: Time Stranger, scheduled for release in 2027.

Bandai Namco recently shared the results of its 139th Digimon Referendum, a fan poll asking players which Digimon they’d most like to train or see featured prominently in future games. Fans chose from a list of 35 Digimon selected by the game’s developers, and here are the top 10 vote-getters:

  1. Gammamon
  2. Loogamon
  3. Kazemon
  4. Gumdramon
  5. Pulsemon
  6. Herissmon
  7. Terriermon Assistant
  8. Meicoomon
  9. Ludomon
  10. Gekkomon

Ryosuke Hara, producer of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, shared that work on the upcoming expansion is already underway. While not every idea from the recent Digi Referendum will be included, the team will incorporate some of the results as they develop this expansion and future Digimon games, considering the overall world-building. More details on what will be included are coming soon.

Hara admitted it was still early days and couldn’t reveal details about the upcoming content. However, she did share that Mutsumi Tamura, the voice actor for Aegiomon, would be returning to work with the team again.

During today’s Digimon Con 2026, host Tsujimon questioned Hara about the upcoming appearance of Aegiomon. Tsujimon wondered if this meant the story would take place in an alternate universe or the future, but acknowledged that Hara likely couldn’t reveal those details at that time.

Hara responded with praise, calling it a great question and a well-reasoned point. He didn’t offer any further comment.

You can play Digimon Story: Time Stranger now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam. It will also be available on Switch and the new Switch 2 on July 9th in Japan and July 10th everywhere else.
