When the new Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens at Walt Disney World in summer 2026, guests staying at Disney Resort hotels will be able to enjoy it through special benefits. This updated ride, replacing the previous Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, will be included in both Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours programs.
As a huge Disney fan, one of the perks I love about staying at a Disney Resort hotel is getting into the parks before everyone else each morning! It makes a big difference, letting you hit those popular rides with shorter waits. And on certain nights, if you’re staying at a Deluxe Resort or Villa – or one of their partner hotels – you can even stay after the park closes for even more magic. It’s a really nice bonus for those of us who want to maximize our time in the parks!

When the new ride opens, it will be part of Disney’s Lightning Lane system, which allows guests to pay for faster access. As a Tier 1 attraction, visitors can purchase Lightning Lane access to skip the regular line and reduce their wait time. Lightning Lane is Disney’s service that lets you pay to bypass the standby queues at popular rides.
Transition From Aerosmith to The Muppets
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith was a popular indoor roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, operating from July 29, 1999, to March 2, 2026. It was known for its fast launch and a soundtrack featuring music by the band Aerosmith, which played throughout the ride.
Before Disney closed the attraction, they took out the traditional pre-show with the band and sealed off the area to start getting it ready for a new theme.

After the ride closed, the Aerosmith name was quickly removed from the outside of the red guitar structure and other signs, as work began on a new project.
The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is temporarily closed while crews set up a new attraction. A sign near the ride playfully references a song from The Muppet Movie, displaying the lyrics, “We’re Moving Right Along. We’re loading in the band!” The song, originally sung by Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear, hints at the exciting changes coming to the ride.
Details of the Muppet Retheme
The ride is getting a fresh makeover! While it will still use the same track and launch system, the theme is changing to feature characters from The Muppets. The focus will be on The Electric Mayhem band, along with favorites like Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the penguins. Guests will start their experience at G-Force Records, now run by Scooter, before boarding a “limousine” to head to the show.
Disney is giving the ride a makeover with new theming, featuring a redesigned guitar and courtyard area. They’re also adding animatronic Muppet characters and a fresh soundtrack performed by The Electric Mayhem.
Context Within Wider Park Updates
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is getting a new theme as part of a larger set of updates coming to Walt Disney World in 2026. These updates also include new shows, attractions, and the addition of themed lands in other parks.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets will remain, but the area around it is being transformed with a Monsters, Inc. theme, meaning the popular Muppet*Vision 3D attraction will be replaced.
