Disney+ Finally Adds New Bluey Content With a Surprise Release Treat

As a big fan of animation, I’m thrilled to hear Disney+ is getting a huge influx of Bluey! It’s fantastic news for parents – my friends with kids are so relieved – but honestly, it’s a win for everyone. I find the show surprisingly insightful, even as an adult! Disney’s really leaning into the Bluey universe with all this new content, and it makes sense, considering they’ve got a movie planned for August 2027. It’s a smart move to keep the excitement building!

Starting March 16th, you can watch a special TV version of Bluey’s Big Play – The Stage Show on Disney+. It features live performances of all your favorite Bluey characters, brought to life with amazing puppetry. Plus, on May 20th, Disney+ will release 10 Bluey “minisodes” that were previously only available online and in Australia. These episodes are called “Humpty Dumpty,” “Green Bottles,” “Flying Saucer,” “Tea Party,” “Pea Pod Sausages,” “Old Macdonald,” “Honk,” “Lollipop Song,” “Cinderella,” and “Make Mum Laugh.”

As a total film and TV buff, I’ve been completely charmed by Bluey. It’s this adorable animated series created by Joe Brumm, and honestly, it’s not just for kids! It follows Bluey, a super energetic six-year-old puppy, and her little sister Bingo as they go on adventures with their parents, Bandit and Chilli. What really sets it apart is how much the show focuses on the parents and their approach to raising their daughters. It’s amazing how Bluey manages to tackle really relatable storylines for both kids and adults—they don’t shy away from even difficult topics, like pregnancy loss—while also weaving in current pop culture references. That’s probably why it’s gotten so much critical acclaim—it’s currently ranked as one of the best sitcoms ever, landing at number 96 on Rolling Stone’s list!

We’re hoping the upcoming movie doesn’t change what makes Bluey so special. But it’s more likely the show will keep doing what it does best: telling heartwarming, relatable stories that resonate with everyone.

If you’re having trouble finding the new short, it’s located within the Mickey+ shorts collection.
