I’ve been a huge Sam Raimi fan for years, and it’s awesome to see him still killing it with his latest films! He really broke out with the Evil Dead movies, which horror fans like me absolutely adore. But he’s also proven he can handle big-budget stuff too. Remember when he launched the Spider-Man trilogy back in 2002? That was huge! He followed that up with Oz the Great and Powerful. After a bit of a break – almost nine years, actually – he jumped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But the best part? He’s heading back to his horror roots in 2026, and everyone’s totally excited about it!
Sam Raimi’s recent horror film, Send Help, initially released in January, is now a big success on Disney+. In its first week of streaming, it’s become the most popular movie on the platform, even beating out The Devil Wears Prada, which just got a new sequel.
Send Help Remains a Massive Success for Sam Raimi

Sam Raimi consistently excels at horror, and Send Help is a prime example, proving to be a significant success. The film earned $94 million globally on a $40 million budget and garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews, achieving a 93% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating from critics and an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. This strong reception suggested it would perform well on streaming platforms, which proved correct when it launched on Disney+ on May 7th.
In the movie Send Help, Rachel McAdams plays Linda Liddle, a quiet and mistreated woman constantly put down by her boss, Bradley Preston (played by Dylan O’Brien). During a business trip to Bangkok, Bradley embarrasses Linda by showing a humiliating audition tape from her attempt to be on Survivor. When their flight leads to them being stranded together on a deserted island, the power dynamic shifts. Linda, surprisingly well-prepared for survival, takes charge, leaving her boss helpless. The film then becomes a tense survival thriller as Bradley tries to regain control, but Linda consistently outsmarts him.
In a review of Send Help, Spencer Perry praised it as a fun and scary thriller that will appeal to fans of director Sam Raimi’s previous films. He noted the movie successfully combines horror with the slapstick comedy and over-the-top humor reminiscent of The Three Stooges, creating moments that are both funny and shocking.
Most reviews highlight the exciting chaos and smart writing in Sam Raimi’s film. Audiences particularly enjoyed Rachel McAdams’ acting, describing Send Help as a wild and unpredictable horror-comedy that’s both thrilling and funny.
