Disney+’s Coven Academy Nears Release With Major Milestone

Disney is gearing up for a new series called Coven Academy, set to premiere in 2025. Production on the first season is now officially underway.

The song “Agatha All Along” from Marvel was a huge hit and sparked interest in a spin-off series. Though initially planned as a one-time event, viewers have been eager for more. While Disney hasn’t officially announced a continuation, production on “Coven Academy” has finished its first season, according to sources.

Covet Academy Nears Season 1 Release

Ora Duplass recently premiered her first feature film, Their Town, marking a significant achievement in her career. Following in her parents’ footsteps – Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton are both well-known actors – Ora is quickly gaining recognition, and will soon appear in the new series Coven Academy.

Duplass is excited about her new series, sharing that they filmed the pilot in Vancouver in June. She described her co-stars as feeling like family and praised their incredible talent.

I’m so excited to share that we officially finished filming just last week! Production actually kicked off in December 2025, and it was a whirlwind getting it all done, but we wrapped everything up in March. It feels amazing to finally be able to talk about it!

The actress said she was completely surprised to land one of the main roles in the show, feeling like it wasn’t real when she found out. She explained that she auditioned but didn’t expect them to even look at her submission.

Mark Duplass explained the casting process was very thorough, and Ora went through seven auditions for the part. Her mother, Katie Aselton, shared that Ora initially read lines for several roles inspired by classic Hollywood films.

She described the upcoming release as a project she truly cares about, highlighting its cast of actors who are all around her age. She hinted that Coven Academy is a young adult story with witches, romance, and a spooky vibe, calling it the most realistic and mature thing Disney has ever created for that audience.

Who Stars in Coven Academy?

Ora Duplass will star as Tegan, joined by Malina Pauli Weissman (known from A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Briar, Tiffani Thiessen (Saved by the Bell, White Collar) as Miss Graves, and Malachi Barton (Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires) as Jake.

The show stars Louis Thresher as Ollie and Jordan Leftwich as Sasha. Brendon Tremplay, Swayam Bhatia, and Keegan Connor Tracy appear in supporting roles, and Devon Sawa makes a guest appearance as Mr. Cole.

Coven Academy is a New Orleans-based story about a group of young witches learning their craft who must protect their town when danger arises.

While a specific release date for Coven Academy hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to arrive on Disney+ either later in 2026 or in early 2027.
