Video game adaptations are everywhere now, and many recent movies and shows have successfully come from popular games. These games often have rich stories and worlds that lend themselves well to other forms of entertainment. With one game currently gaining a lot of attention, it could benefit from taking notes from the animated series Arcane if it’s ever developed into a TV show.
Netflix’s Arcane is widely considered one of the best shows of the last decade, earning a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show brilliantly brings the world and characters of League of Legends to life with compelling stories, and its stunning animation has set a new standard for animated series.
Let me tell you, the soundtrack to Arcane is phenomenal – truly one of the best I’ve ever heard on television. Each song just hits you emotionally, and it all adds up to an experience that will stay with you long after the credits roll. There might be other video game adaptations that are slightly better overall, but Arcane sets the standard for how these things should be done, and I’m really hoping future shows take note.
Dispatch Hasn’t Fully Released Yet, But It Already Deserves A Major TV Adaptation
AdHoc Studio’s game, Dispatch, launched globally on October 22, 2025. However, because new episodes are being released every two weeks, players won’t be able to experience the complete story until November 12th. Even so, the game is already incredibly popular, making it a strong candidate for a television series, and it’s likely to be very successful in that format.
The project boasts an incredible cast, including voice acting legend Laura Bailey and star Aaron Paul, who immediately makes a potential show based on these characters very appealing. Because the game focuses on choices that drive the story, it already feels like an interactive movie, making it a natural fit for a screen adaptation.
Whether a TV series should focus on new characters depends on how the game concludes. However, given the franchise’s rising popularity, attracting well-known actors wouldn’t be a problem. Luckily, the world and characters of Dispatch are already well-developed, which would easily draw viewers into the stories of both new superheroes and dispatchers.
Although it’s just starting out, Dispatch shows a lot of promise. Considering Ad Hoc Studio’s Arcane became a critically acclaimed animated series, it would be smart for Dispatch to learn from Arcane‘s success if it were to become a TV show.
Dispatch’s Fictional World Has So Much Adaptation Potential
With the recent popularity of shows like The Boys and Invincible, Dispatch has the potential to become just as successful, particularly because the writing is so strong. Players are already invested in the characters and enjoying the blend of funny moments and exciting action, even after only playing about half of the game.
This is only a small glimpse of what’s possible with Dispatch. We’ve only investigated one police precinct so far, but the game’s world is much larger. Plus, we’ve discovered that some employees at the Space Defense Network come from other planets, proving the story isn’t limited to Earth.
One of the things that makes Invincible so strong is its diverse cast of characters from across the galaxy, and this mix of personalities has been a huge success for the series. Dispatch could benefit from a similar approach, but even if it focuses on Earth-based stories initially, its unique comedic style has the potential to make it a very popular TV show.
This game, a strong contender for Game of the Year, features heroes with surprisingly specific quirks. For example, one character, Invisigal, has asthma but needs to hold her breath to become invisible. These little details are what make Dispatch so memorable, and a TV adaptation with the same creative spirit would be amazing.
Could A Dispatch Adaptation Be As Successful As Arcane Or The Last Of Us?
AdHoc Studio
While Dispatch has a lot of potential, becoming as popular as shows like Arcane and The Last of Us will be a challenge. A TV adaptation would probably be mostly comedic, and even with a more dramatic approach, the franchise still has a way to go before it reaches widespread mainstream success.
Unlike some games, League of Legends is incredibly popular – even people who don’t play it have probably heard of it. However, The Last of Us is possibly even more well-known. The original game is frequently ranked among the greatest ever made, so it’s no wonder HBO created a successful adaptation.
Even though The Last of Us had a fantastic start, its second season sparked a lot of disagreement, even more than the second game did. Arcane also received some criticism for how certain characters developed and its quickly-wrapped-up ending. Because of this, a show based on Dispatch could potentially be even better than these projects, even if it doesn’t reach the same level of popularity.
It could turn out like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners or Castlevania – both were critically acclaimed even though they weren’t the most widely known shows.
The early signs suggest Dispatch has real potential as a TV show and could be very popular, particularly given the game’s success. Even if it doesn’t reach the heights of shows like Arcane or The Last of Us, Dispatch has everything it needs to succeed, and I’m hopeful we’ll see much more from this world in the future.
