Doctor Doom is building an army to fight the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. Sources say his second-in-command will be a surprising defector – someone who used to be one of Earth’s greatest heroes.
Last week, insider Daniel Richtman reported that Doctor Doom will have a powerful wizard as a key ally in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. This wizard will use a sling ring – a magical device in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that allows users to open portals to different places or even other dimensions. This news led fans to speculate that Doctor Strange might be working with Doom in the movie, and it now appears that theory is likely true.
Which popular MCU hero may be Doctor Doom’s sidekick in Avengers: Doomsday?
Richtman recently shared a new detail about Doctor Doom’s ally, stating that he wears a mask resembling Doom’s, but with an extra space for a third eye. Since Doctor Strange developed a third eye in the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after using the Darkhold, this suggests Strange might be working with Doom in the upcoming Doomsday story.
A reliable source, Scooper MAJESTIC_ucm, confirmed a previous report that the Doctor Strange from the main Marvel Cinematic Universe (Earth-616) will be a key ally to Doctor Doom. They also revealed Doom will have a team of five powerful followers, including Wanda from Earth-616, Clea, a shapeshifter disguised as Peggy Carter, and Master Hulk.
As of today, Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced whether Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda), Charlize Theron (Clea), Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), or Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) will be in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. However, Marvel is famous for keeping surprises, so it’s very possible these actors are involved and the studio is just being secretive about it.
You’ll find out everything when Avengers: Doomsday arrives in cinemas on December 18, 2026, as the latest installment in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
