Doctor Who Companion Finally Breaks Silence on Controversial Exit

Currently, the Doctor Who series finds itself in an interesting predicament, with fans eagerly anticipating the identity of the next Doctor and the release date for a new season. The season finale of series 15 left viewers intrigued due to Billie Piper’s appearance, but some fans were disappointed by the seemingly sudden conclusion to Ncuti Gatwa’s portrayal as the main character. Not only did this storyline conclude with the season finale, but a companion’s tale also came to an end in that episode. Recently, this companion has shared their thoughts on their time in the franchise, how it ended, and what potential future developments may occur.

During his tenure on the show, Gatwa’s Doctor was accompanied by two distinct companions. First, Millie Gibson portrayed Ruby in season 14. Later, in season 15, viewers were introduced to Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu, who became the Doctor’s primary partner during his final season. Recently, in an interview with MTV UK, Sethu shared her experiences on the series and was asked about her thoughts on the finale and the fan response to it.

‘I can hardly believe I won’t encounter Belinda again.’ It’s the dismay that arises from the overwhelming affection people have for Belinda, which makes them exclaim, ‘I can’t believe I don’t get to see more of her. It was tied up so beautifully.’

Following Lux’s apprehension in the final episode, Belinda confides in The Doctor about her daughter Poppy, leading her to opt to stay on Earth to look after her. As events unfold, The Doctor undergoes regeneration, and surprisingly, Rose Tyler – played by Billie Piper – emerges from the transformation. Although the implications of this revelation are yet unknown, when questioned about a possible return to the series in the future, Sethu hints that the opportunity remains open.

Sethu mentioned that he’d be delighted to return if given the chance, but for now, things seem finalized. However, he added with a hopeful tone, ‘Russell left the door open, and I guess it remains so.’

It remains to be seen whether we’ll get another appearance from Belinda, but Doctor Who enthusiasts are accustomed to unexpected comebacks. At this point, the main query on everyone’s mind is when the next season (season 16) will air, as no details have been disclosed yet.
