During his tenure on the show, Gatwa’s Doctor was accompanied by two distinct companions. First, Millie Gibson portrayed Ruby in season 14. Later, in season 15, viewers were introduced to Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu, who became the Doctor’s primary partner during his final season. Recently, in an interview with MTV UK, Sethu shared her experiences on the series and was asked about her thoughts on the finale and the fan response to it.

‘I can hardly believe I won’t encounter Belinda again.’ It’s the dismay that arises from the overwhelming affection people have for Belinda, which makes them exclaim, ‘I can’t believe I don’t get to see more of her. It was tied up so beautifully.’

Following Lux’s apprehension in the final episode, Belinda confides in The Doctor about her daughter Poppy, leading her to opt to stay on Earth to look after her. As events unfold, The Doctor undergoes regeneration, and surprisingly, Rose Tyler – played by Billie Piper – emerges from the transformation. Although the implications of this revelation are yet unknown, when questioned about a possible return to the series in the future, Sethu hints that the opportunity remains open.

Sethu mentioned that he’d be delighted to return if given the chance, but for now, things seem finalized. However, he added with a hopeful tone, ‘Russell left the door open, and I guess it remains so.’
