Doctor Who legend David Tennant’s response to newly recovered episodes revealed – and reminds everyone he’s a superfan too

Georgia Tennant shared how her husband, actor David Tennant, responded to the discovery of old Doctor Who episodes from the 1960s.

Superfans of the classic sci-fi show Doctor Who can now watch two previously lost episodes, “The Nightmare Begins” and “Devil’s Planet.” These episodes are part of a 12-part story called “The Daleks’ Master Plan” and were recently rediscovered in a private collection donated to the Leicester-based charity Film is Fabulous. They were released on iPlayer last month.

David Tennant, known for playing the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctors, also seems to be enjoying the new episodes.

Georgia posted a video to her Instagram story over the weekend showing her looking unhappy on her sofa, with the show’s theme song playing in the background.

Text over the video reads: “Lost my husband to @BBCiplayer”.

These episodes, penned by Terry Nation, feature William Hartnell in the role of the very first Doctor, alongside Peter Purves playing his companion, Steven Taylor.

Showrunner Russell T. Davies shared exciting news on Instagram: two long-lost episodes of Doctor Who – “The Nightmare Begins” and “Devil’s Planet” from 1965 – have been discovered after being missing for 61 years! He announced that the BBC will make them available to stream for free on BBC iPlayer in April.

Doctor Who: The Nightmare Begins and Devil’s Planet are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
