Tom Baker, best known as the Fourth Doctor on Doctor Who, recently released a video celebrating the 45th anniversary of a particularly iconic scene from the show.
The 92-year-old actor shared a video on his YouTube channel remembering his final appearance as the Doctor, which originally aired on March 21, 1981.
The video started with a quote from 45 years ago: ‘It’s the end, but the moment has been prepared for.’ It then showed a clip of Tom Baker, wearing his famous striped scarf from when he played Doctor Who.
Holding his sonic screwdriver, he chuckled, “Right, this is it – my sonic screwdriver, and honestly, it’s been the secret to everything I’ve achieved. And of course, I want to thank all of you who’ve watched, applauded, and sent gifts – it’s been a truly amazing experience.”
He finished with his signature chuckle, a warm thank you to everyone watching, and then a final message flashed on the screen – a simple but powerful tribute: ‘Tom Baker will always be the Doctor!’ It was a lovely, heartfelt way to end things, really cementing his legacy.

The Fourth Doctor’s last adventure, titled Logopolis, marked the end of Tom Baker’s time on the show and his transformation into the Fifth Doctor, played by Peter Davison.
In his final moments after a fall, actor Tom Baker, playing his Time Lord character, famously said, “It’s the end, but the moment has been prepared for.” This line has become iconic and is often quoted by fans, and it’s included in a new video celebrating the show’s history.

In 2013, the actor made a comeback for the special episode celebrating Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary, titled ‘The Day of the Doctor.’ He appeared as the Curator, an enigmatic older incarnation of the Doctor.
Baker joined the show in the mid-1970s and is still one of its most memorable stars. Many consider his time on the series to be a key period in its success, solidifying its importance in British TV history.
