With the season changing and everyone looking for a new show to watch, the early arrival of ‘Cooper & Fry’ is fantastic news.
The show will officially premiere on November 18th at 8pm, and new episodes will be released every Tuesday.
The show stars Mandip Gill, known for her role in Doctor Who, and Rob James-Collier, famous from Downton Abbey, as a detective pair who couldn’t be more different.
The new series takes place in the scenic but secretive Peak District. It follows DC Ben Cooper, a friendly local detective, as he partners with the reserved DC Diane Fry to solve a series of puzzling deaths.
As a big fan of Stephen Booth’s books, I’m really excited about the new TV series, Cooper & Fry. It’s going to be four feature-length episodes, and each one will adapt a different novel from the series. They’re starting with Black Dog, then moving on to Dying to Sin, Blind to the Bones, and finally Dancing with the Virgins. It’s great to see so much source material being covered in one go!

The show was revealed as part of a larger group of new programs for Channel 5, which also included the dramas ‘The Family Secret’ and ‘Missed Call,’ a thriller set in France.
When these shows were ordered, Sebastian Cardwell, a leader at Paramount UK, stated they were very excited to share this new collection of scripted programs, highlighting 5’s commitment to diverse and impactful storytelling.
We’re expanding our drama lineup with exciting new thrillers and mysteries, as well as bringing back popular shows that viewers love.
Cooper & Fry promises a story about an unusual partnership. The two characters will need to learn to collaborate to achieve their goals, and as their lives become more connected, an unexpected friendship will develop – though it won’t be without challenges.
As for just how things will unfold for the two detectives, we’ll have to wait and see!
Cooper & Fry begins on Tuesday 18th November at 8pm on 5.
