In a recent disclosure, BBC Studios‘ Chief Executive Officer, Tom Fussell, has expressed his dedication to the continuation of the popular series “Doctor Who.” He assured the audience that the show will carry on in the future.
After rumors swirled about the future of the popular science fiction series, the boss addressed these concerns, as it appears the collaboration agreement between the BBC, Disney+, and them may be uncertain.
After the BBC published its Annual Report on July 15th, Fussell noted that Disney functions as a significant collaborator for BBC Studios, not only in relation to Doctor Who, but also with well-known franchises like Bluey and Dancing with the Stars.
In his conversation with Deadline, he expressed, “The Doctor Who brand has always been cherished by fans, even before I started wearing shorts.

He mentioned that they are deeply devoted to “Doctor Who” and are actively exploring strategies to present the series to its audience.
Two seasons back, the BBC/Disney collaboration was established. Simultaneously, Russell T Davies resumed his role as ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner, while Ncuti Gatwa stepped into the position of the Doctor.
In other words, Gatwa took over as the Doctor following a brief return by David Tennant to the role when Jodie Whittaker’s term concluded.
Since that time, the series has sparked debates among viewers due to its intricate storylines, unexpected character reappearances, and confusing narrative turns.
At the conclusion of the most recent season, Gatwa relinquished his role, seemingly passing it onto Billie Piper, with her character taking on a new form in the finale.

Initially, Gatwa mentioned that a two-season storyline was the intended plan. However, during a recent interview with Laura Kuenssberg from the BBC on July 13th, he revealed that the arc has drained him significantly, both physically, emotionally, and mentally.
More recently, it’s been pointed out that Piper, known for her role as Rose Tyler within the series, might not necessarily become the new Doctor contrary to earlier speculations. In fact, showrunner Davies hinted during an interview with YourManchester that he remains clueless about this matter.
Viewers had previously observed that Piper deviated from the norm, for she wasn’t officially unveiled as the new Doctor in the episode’s end credits.
Davies remarked following her finale appearance: “It’s both a privilege and a laugh to have her return to the TARDIS, however, the details of when, why, and by whom are still part of an untold tale.
