Does Agatha All Along seal Wanda Maximoff’s fate with its mystery body?

Does Agatha All Along seal Wanda Maximoff’s fate with its mystery body?

As a longtime Marvel fan and movie enthusiast with over two decades of cinematic superhero adventures under my belt, I must say that Agatha All Along has left me both shocked and intrigued. The revelation that Wanda Maximoff might have met her demise in the series is a twist that I never saw coming, even after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

*Warning: Spoilers for Agatha All Along ahead*

As a movie buff excitedly diving into Agatha All Along on Disney Plus, I must admit that the initial episode presents some troubling undertones for Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) enthusiasts like myself.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was the Scarlet Witch who initially crossed paths with the cunning Agatha Harkness, portrayed by Kathryn Hahn. Agatha, in an audacious move, attempted to seize the Scarlet Witch’s powers by secretly manipulating her spell that had been cast over the inhabitants of Westview.

Ah, it seemed my powers took a strange turn, as I found myself bereft of my magical abilities and trapped within a suburban existence that mirrored the character I’d unwittingly molded during Wanda’s television-inspired hallucinations.

Instead, we can say: Yet, it seems like Agatha will have the final chuckle, as her former adversary may have suffered an unexpected end – at least based on the first two episodes of her separate series.

Is Wanda dead in Agatha All Along?

Does Agatha All Along seal Wanda Maximoff’s fate with its mystery body?

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the fate of Scarlet Witch following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness remained unclear. However, as revealed in Agatha All Along, it’s now been confirmed that Wanda has indeed passed away.

This might come as a nasty surprise to some viewers.

As a die-hard fan of horror movies, I can’t help but question the finality of the destruction atop Mount Wundagore, where Darkhold Castle stood. You see, we horror enthusiasts have learned the hard way not to consider a character dead until the movie explicitly confirms it – something The Multiverse of Madness deliberately chooses to avoid.

Instead, Wanda conveniently vanishes amidst the debris. Considering her extraordinary powers, it’s not difficult to speculate that she might have conjured a lifesaving charm just in time to ensure her continued involvement in Marvel Cinematic Universe narratives.

And yet, if Agatha All Along is to be trusted, that appears not to have been the case.

In my humble opinion, this captivating series sets the stage with a nod to Mare of Easttown and True Detective, introducing Agatha Harkness as a tenacious small-town cop delving into chilling investigations. The eerie mystery unfolds when an enigmatic corpse mysteriously surfaces in Westview’s dense woods, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats, wondering where it came from.

It turns out, without a doubt, that it belongs to Wanda Maximoff – we can verify this fact ourselves.

The most compelling proof lies in the fact that the spell Wanda cast upon Agatha noticeably loses its potency following the discovery of her body, enabling Agatha to abandon the ‘Agnes’ persona and restore her genuine identity.

It looks like fans eagerly waiting for Wanda’s potential comeback in the Marvel franchise might want to adjust their anticipation levels slightly. But could they still be in for a surprise?

How could Wanda come back to the MCU?

Does Agatha All Along seal Wanda Maximoff’s fate with its mystery body?

From the perspective of a passionate moviegoer immersed in the realm of comics, one could say that death isn’t quite the definitive end it is in reality. In a sense, it’s more like popping in and out of a neighborhood shop. Characters seem to move in and out of the afterlife as if it were just another part of their daily adventures.

From one perspective, it weakens the emotional power when a cherished character takes the final selfless act; from another, it ensures that followers will not experience an irrevocable goodbye to their beloved hero.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe offers an adaptable perspective on what we commonly understand as ‘death’. For instance, Loki has been revived multiple times, and Gamora was resurrected once, while numerous other characters who were eliminated by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War have since been brought back to life.

So, if Wanda is really dead, how could she come back to life in the MCU?

It’s quite plausible that Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will resurface in the upcoming two-part series, Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Notably, Secret Wars is anticipated to unfold within a bizarre fusion of parallel dimensions, much like it did in the original comics.

Indeed, it seems plausible that I might reappear in the MCU as a variant of Scarlet Witch, much like the suburban and zombie versions we’ve seen before. With the Marvel Zombies spin-off on the horizon, one can only speculate about the potential return of familiar faces.

Instead, there’s a chance that the classic version we cherish might return somehow, possibly under mysterious circumstances, maybe even controlled by the sinister character Mephisto, as many WandaVision fans have been eagerly requesting for quite some time.

To put it simply, numerous options exist, but they’re only worth discussing if Olsen herself is open to exploring them. Here’s her most recent statement regarding this topic.

Is Elizabeth Olsen ready to come back as Wanda?

It’s quite possible, indeed! After voicing some concerns about Wanda’s portrayal in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, fans speculated that Olsen might be leaving Marvel Studios for good.

Nonetheless, remarks about her upcoming Netflix movie, His Three Daughters, during its promotional tour spark renewed speculation that she may rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) at a later time.

Regarding Wanda’s future, she shared with FM104 (through Collider): “I enjoy revisiting this character whenever there’s a good opportunity, and I feel fortunate that when I began, I was utilized effectively. I hope to continue being so.

Initially, it seemed as though they were unsure how to utilize me, but should there be an effective role for me, I’d gladly return.

I’m crossing my fingers that Kevin Feige and his team can develop a captivating proposal to convince the award-nominated talents to return. Keep an eye out for updates!
