Ghost of Yōtei was released this month, and players finishing the game are wondering about a New Game Plus feature. This would allow you to start a new game while keeping the skills and abilities you’ve already unlocked with Atsu.
Sadly, though, that’s not quite the case – at least not yet.
Let us explain.
Does Ghost of Yōtei have New Game Plus?
Unfortunately, Ghost of Yōtei doesn’t have a New Game Plus option when it first releases, but there’s still more to experience with Atsu’s story.
After finishing the main story, you can complete any remaining side quests or explore the game world. There’s also a post-game feature where you can travel back in time before the final battle to replay missions and unlock new abilities through special ‘Myth’ quests.
A new red and black color scheme, called Blood and Flies, is available for Atsu’s armor. It’s designed to intimidate bounty hunters who will be actively searching for Atsu.
Will Ghost of Yōtei get New Game Plus?

We expect Ghost of Yōtei to get a New Game Plus feature about three months after it releases, likely in December 2025 or January 2026.
Ghost of Tsushima was released in July 2020, and its New Game Plus mode became available about three months later in October. This makes it likely that Yōtei will receive a similar update soon. Plus, the Yōtei update appears to be more than just a simple restart of the game.
The New Game Plus update for Ghost of Tsushima lets players upgrade their gear further, earn a new mask by completing another playthrough, and purchase unique items from a special merchant.
I’m really excited to hear that Ghost of Yōtei is getting its own multiplayer! It’s called Legends, and it sounds a lot like the Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima – we’ll be able to team up with a friend for co-op missions, or grab three others and try to survive as long as possible. It’s awesome that Sucker Punch is still supporting the game and adding even more content!
While the game has some good parts, I often found myself getting bored while playing it – and that’s probably not what the creators were hoping for.
If you enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and you’re open to a game that combines elements of both in a unique way, then this is definitely worth trying – you’ll likely be glad you did.
If you prefer to spend your free time on something original, you’ll likely be disappointed with this.
