Ever since Hugh Grant appeared in ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ in 2022, fans have been eager to see more of his character in the series.
Benoit Blanc, a detective from the Southern US and portrayed by Daniel Craig, first appeared in the 2019 film Knives Out. The movie offered very little insight into his background or personal life, though.
With the sequel, Glass Onion, we finally got a peek into what Benoit Blanc gets up to when he’s not solving mysteries, and honestly, Rian Johnson really delivered with the celebrity cameos. I mean, there’s a scene where Blanc is playing Among Us online with Stephen Sondheim and Angela Lansbury! It was such a cool, unexpected moment and a total delight as a fan.
I was thrilled when Glass Onion finally revealed that Benoit Blanc has a husband, Phillip – Hugh Grant played him! It totally made sense for the character, and honestly, fans like me have been crossing our fingers ever since that Hugh Grant will be back for the new mystery, Wake Up Dead Man. We’re hoping to see more of their relationship on screen!
Read on to find out if he does…

Is Hugh Grant in Wake Up Dead Man?

No, there is no appearance from Grant in the movie – not even a cameo.
Considering the already impressive cast of “Wake Up Dead Man,” featuring stars like Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, and many others, it might have been unrealistic to hope for the return of the character Phillip as well.
There’s still a chance for another Knives Out movie, though it’s not confirmed yet. Considering how well audiences liked the character Phillip, it seems unlikely the director doesn’t plan to include him in a future film.
Though we don’t know what’s next, Phillip won’t be appearing in “Wake Up Dead Man.” However, Benoit Blanc is sporting a new, memorable style, and you can find our review of this fantastic movie here.
