Does Leon die in Resident Evil Requiem? Leon’s canon fate explained

There are two endings to Resident Evil Requiem. One in which Leon dies, and one in which he lives.

You will be pleased to learn that Leon does not die in the canon ending of Resident Evil Requiem.

In this conclusion, Grace sets Elpis free, revealing it’s not a virus at all, but a universal cure for all viral diseases.

In Greek mythology, Elpis is a lesser goddess representing hope. It’s therefore quite fitting that hope is what ultimately stops the virus.

Releasing Elpis allows Grace to give Leon the cure, saving his life so he can continue fighting Victor Gideon in the final battle.

In an alternate, unofficial ending, Grace chooses to destroy Elpis rather than liberate it, greatly angering Zeno, who is a clone of Albert Wesker from the original Resident Evil series.

In retaliation, Zeno unceremoniously kills Leon, pretty much ending the game there and then.

That ending didn’t feel right for Leon S. Kennedy, thankfully the official ending lets him continue fighting zombies.
