Does Milly Alcock’s Supergirl appear in Superman?

*Warning: Superman spoilers ahead*

Following a great deal of excitement, James Gunn’s portrayal of Superman has made its debut on movie screens – David Corenswet stepping into the shoes previously worn by Christopher Reeve, Henry Cavill, and numerous others who have donned the well-known blue and red costume.

The fresh interpretation of the final Kryptonian son – that trades the heavy, somber demeanor of the latest Zack Snyder version for a lighter, more humorous portrayal – has sparked mixed opinions among critics thus far. Our own review, rated 3 stars, describes it as an “enjoyable reboot” despite its shortcomings.

Without a doubt, this marks the beginning of Gunn’s revamped DCU. The movie initiates an entirely fresh continuity that dismisses the critically panned (and progressively inconsistent) DC Extended Universe, which encompassed 16 films from 2013 to 2023.

Gunn has previously enlisted directors like Craig Gillespie (Cruella) and James Mangold for upcoming installments. Some less frequently featured characters, such as Clayface and Swamp Thing, are also expected to star in standalone films of their own.

Coming soon is a movie focusing on a character with ties to the Man of Steel: his cousin Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. The role will be portrayed by Milly Alcock from House of the Dragon, and there’s speculation among fans that she could make an appearance in Superman before her official debut next year.

Is Milly Alcock’s Supergirl in Superman?

Yes – but only in a brief cameo at the very end of the film.

In this particular scene, we find Superman returning to his stronghold, the Fortress of Solitude located in Antarctica. Here, he takes a well-deserved break and unwinds after his selfless actions during the movie.

In simpler terms, Supergirl appears at the Fortress, a bit tipsy and anxious about retrieving her cherished pet dog Krypto. Upon seeing her, Krypto seems overjoyed, and they engage in some boisterous play after Krypto jumps towards her. This leads Superman to remark that it’s no surprise he can be unruly at times.

From what we’ve observed so far, it offers a charming glimpse into the protagonist’s personality and her bond with her cousin. We’ll delve deeper into her story when she takes center stage next summer (Supergirl is scheduled for release on Friday 26th July)).

So far, details about the film are scarce, as anticipated. However, an engaging tagline hints at the plot: “Kara Zor-El, while enjoying her 21st birthday, embarks on a galactic journey with Krypto. Along this voyage, she encounters Ruthye Marye Knoll and embarks on a vengeful pursuit marked by violence.

Actress Eve Ridley, known for her appearances in two episodes of Netflix’s “3 Body Problem,” is set to portray the character Ruthye Marye Knoll. Additionally, roles have been assigned to Matthias Schoenaerts (“The Regime”), David Krumholtz (“Oppenheimer”), Emily Beecham (“The Pursuit of Love”), and a brief appearance by Jason Momoa as Lobo is expected.

In a previous conversation with ComicBook.com, Gunn provided additional insights about Alcock’s character in the DCU, hinting: “Supergirl, particularly the DCU Supergirl, is quite troubled. She’s had significant challenges in her upbringing. This stems from the comic where she witnessed numerous individuals dying as her part of the planet was breaking apart.

Prior to the premiere of Superman, Alcock was often questioned in interviews about her potential role in the upcoming movie. However, she was quite secretive about it, telling Extra that she couldn’t discuss the matter and didn’t want to risk a lawsuit.
