Doja Cat Eats Her Lipstick in Shocking Red Carpet Moment at VMAs 2025

Doja Cat is painting the town her mouth red.

At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards held in New York City, the singer known as “The Jealous Type” left spectators stunned not only by reapplying her lipstick for the cameras but also by a surprising action. (To see more stars who graced the 2025 VMAs red carpet, click here.)

At the UBS Arena event on September 7th, Doja cat, sporting a mini dress featuring checks of lime green and gray with bright pink accents down the center, was spotted applying MAC’s “Lady Danger” red lipstick to her previously stained lips, flashing smiles for photographs in between.

However, her lipstick application didn’t stop at just touching up. Once she had applied some on her lips, she bit vigorously into the lipstick stick, chewed it, and then swallowed it.

Furthermore, not only did the surprising “OMG” moment grab everyone’s attention, but it also acted as a clever publicity strategy to highlight Doja Cat’s new position as a global ambassador for MAC Cosmetics.

As a devoted Mac makeup enthusiast, I’ve always cherished this connection. Now, I’m thrilled to elevate that passion on a global platform, as I shared in a statement to InStyle on September 7th. For me, makeup serves as my canvas, my protective shield, and my tool for character creation – and Mac has consistently supported such artistic expression and liberty.

She added, “We’re going to push it even further and make people see beauty in a whole new way.”

Absolutely, working with MAC isn’t the only notable achievement for Doja Cat as of now. The artist behind “Paint the Town Red” was also nominated this year at the VMAs in the category of Best K-Pop Song, acknowledging her collaboration with Lisa and Raye on their song “Born Again.

In addition, Doja Cat, who’s preparing to release her upcoming album titled “Vie” this month, is scheduled to perform at the event hosted by LL Cool J. Joining her on stage will be artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, sombr (possibly a typo for a specific artist), Mariah Carey, and Jelly Roll.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, she expressed that her new musical journey is a continuation of what she started perfecting from the beginning. Essentially, she’s saying she’s doing what she knows best.
