Koei Tecmo, a video game publisher, is reorganizing its development teams to strengthen its most successful studios.
This news is getting a lot of attention right now, and it initially appears that Team Ninja is being restructured and its members moved to different projects.
Okay, so I’m hearing about some big changes happening, and a whole department at Team Ninja is getting moved around internally. But just to be clear, this isn’t the crew that just knocked it out of the park with Nioh 3 – that team is still good to go!
We’re actually discussing Team Ninja’s first division, the studio leading Koei Tecmo’s efforts with ongoing, live-service games, such as Venus Vacation and Dead or Alive Xtreme.
Just to clarify, Team Ninja – the creators of games like Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and the Dead or Alive series – is also responsible for Division 2.
So, things are shifting around a little bit internally with all the new projects coming up – especially with the exciting new Dead or Alive game! But don’t worry, it’s not affecting those franchises directly, despite what some people might think. It’s more of a team adjustment than anything else.
Where is Division 1 moving to? It’s being restructured as a new part of Gust, the studio known for the Atelier games.
This makes sense, considering Division 1 had previously worked on Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator – a continuously updated RPG. It’s quite a title, though!
So, Koei Tecmo is undergoing some restructuring, but fans of their popular Team Ninja games don’t need to worry.
