Downton Abbey and Luther legends’ new crime drama finally gets UK release date confirmed

A fresh crime series on ITV, featuring well-known actors from Downton Abbey and Luther, will premiere in the UK soon.

In “A Taste for Murder,” DCI Joe Mottram, portrayed by Warren Brown (known from “Luther”), takes a break from work after his wife unexpectedly passes away. He hopes to spend time rebuilding his relationship with his teenage daughter, Angelica (Beau Gadsdon, who starred in “The Railway Children Return”).

Joe and Angelica are warmly welcomed to the charming seaside restaurant owned by Joe’s late wife’s parents, Chef Gennaro (Urbano Barberini) and Elena Da Vinale (Phyllis Logan). However, their visit doesn’t stay peaceful for long.

When a man is found dead on the beach and Luca, Gennaro’s nephew and a cook at the restaurant, is arrested for the crime, Joe feels compelled to investigate what happened.

At first, Marco clashed with local inspector Lara Sarrancino (played by Cristiana Dell’Anna, known from Gomorrah), but they soon began working together, solving various crimes around the island.

All six episodes of the new crime series, created by the same team behind shows like Hotel Portofino, Professor T, and Patience, will be available to stream on ITVX starting Wednesday, May 13th.

As Joe travels, he picks up cooking skills, and discovering Italian cuisine actually helps him solve the crimes he’s working on. Learning from Gennaro and Elena in the kitchen not only makes him a better cook, but also a better father and detective.

As the investigation continues, the island’s peaceful facade begins to crumble, revealing a complex network of lies. This forces Joe to face a shocking reality that completely changes his life.

Gaia Scodellaro, known for her role in The Equalizer 3, will play Daria, a divorced local who works at the restaurant. Alessandro Bedetti, from Those About to Die, will play Daniele, a man who attracts Angelica’s attention and offers to be her guide around the island.
