Hugh Bonneville will narrate the Channel 4 Christmas travel special, Nordic Train.
This unique program, called a “picturesque rail expedition,” will follow a train journey along the Bergen Oslo railway, showcasing the scenery as it travels from the Norwegian coast to Oslo.
Channel 4 has announced the journey will start in the beautiful city of Bergen, nestled among historic fjords and mountains. It will then travel through breathtaking Nordic scenery, including the snowy hills of Finse, which boasts one of Europe’s highest hotels, before finishing with celebrations in the vibrant capital city of Oslo.
Along the way, viewers will also meet the staff, passengers and locals.
This program is being made for Channel 4 by King of Sunshine Productions, an independent production company based in Salford, working alongside Motion Entertainment, which is part of WPP Media.
This new film follows up on the success of last year’s ‘Alpine Train at Christmas,’ which also featured Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville and was popular with Channel 4 viewers.

I was so thrilled to hear Channel 4 is teaming up with King of Sunshine again! Their Christmas special, Alpine Train, was fantastic, and I’m really excited about their new project. Apparently, it’s going to showcase the beautiful scenery between Norway’s biggest cities, and all the charming towns you can discover along the route. It sounds absolutely captivating!
As a big fan of the Bergen Line, I’m so excited that King of Sunshine Productions is bringing its beauty to Channel 4 again this Christmas! Sohail Shah, the MD, said they’re giving viewers a special look behind the scenes, and this year it’s going to have a really authentic Nordic feel – I can’t wait to see it!
I’m excited to report that Hugh Bonneville is returning to the world of brilliantly awkward Olympic planning! He’ll be stepping back into the shoes of Ian Fletcher for a new BBC comedy called Twenty Twenty Six, continuing the hilarious saga that began with Twenty Twelve and W1A. It’s fantastic to see a character as wonderfully flustered as Ian get another chance to navigate a major event, and I’m already anticipating the chaos.
The show brings back Bonneville and Hugh Skinner as the clumsy Will Humphries. This time, Fletcher will be in charge of making sure everything is fair and honest for the BBC’s coverage of the 2026 World Cup.
