The new series, Dragon Ball Daima, surprised fans in a big way. Not only did the show turn the Z-Fighters into children through a wish made by the Demon Lord Gomah, but it also delivered on long-awaited requests from the fanbase. Vegeta finally achieved the Super Saiyan 3 transformation, and even more impressively, Goku officially became a Super Saiyan 4 – a form that originally appeared in Dragon Ball GT and is now considered part of the official story. A recent development in the series has also revealed new information about the powerful ape-like form associated with this transformation.
Last year, the game Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot added a new downloadable content pack called Daima – Adventure Through The Demon Realm. This allowed players to explore the underworld, based on events from a spin-off series. A cutscene in the DLC reveals an adult Goku talking to a new character, Panzy. He explains that he only achieved Super Saiyan 4 because he was temporarily turned into a child and helped by a Namekian named Neva. Goku even jokes, “It might sound crazy, but I JUST got used to being tiny. I mean, I made it to Super Saiyan 4 and everything.” This suggests that Goku wouldn’t have unlocked Super Saiyan 4 without Neva’s magic, and fans are now discussing this revelation from the video game.
When Did Dragon Ball Unleash Super Saiyan 4?

The finale of Dragon Ball Daima showed Vegeta scolding Goku for not telling him about Super Saiyan 4, proving Vegeta still stays one step ahead. Goku explained he’d trained a lot after his fight with Buu to achieve the transformation, but wasn’t sure if it would even work. This suggests he hadn’t used Super Saiyan 4 before entering the Demon Realm and meeting Neva, though it’s still open to interpretation. Since Daima concluded, we haven’t seen Super Saiyan 4 again, but with the Genki Dama Festival coming up soon, there’s a good chance we will in the future.
Even though the new series, Dragon Ball Daima, is set before Dragon Ball Super, the powerful Super Saiyan 4 transformation never appeared in Dragon Ball Super itself. There’s a logical reason for this: Goku achieved new, even stronger forms like Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan Blue, and Ultra Instinct, which became his go-to powers during that series. Since Super Saiyan 4 wasn’t used in the storylines featuring Moro or Granolah, fans might have to wait a while longer to see it animated. However, if the Dragon Ball Super manga continues after the Super Hero movie, it could introduce Super Saiyan 4 in manga form first.
