The popular series Dragon Ball started 2026 with some big news at the Genki Dama Matsuri, a celebration of the manga’s 40th anniversary. Fans were concerned about the future of the franchise after the death of creator Akira Toriyama in 2024, and the Dragon Ball Super manga was put on hold. While artist Toyotaro is expected to continue the manga, it’s been almost two years and there’s no word on when it will resume. However, anime fans have reason to be excited, as Dragon Ball Super will return after an eight-year break. Last month, it was announced that the anime will continue with The Galactic Patrol, adapting the story arc following the Tournament of Power.
The current story arc in the anime, ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga,’ is relatively short at about 26 chapters, hinting at a brief season. Plus, a new anime remake called Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is planned for Fall 2026, which will revisit the events of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. But for those excited about January’s announcements, there’s more to come! A ‘Battle Hour’ event in April will reveal even bigger news for fans.
Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour Confirms Its Schedule

Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 will be held on April 18th and 19th in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall. Though it started in 2021, the event has quickly become the largest celebration of all things Dragon Ball, bringing fans together from around the world to enjoy content related to the manga, anime, films, video games, collectibles, and more.
I’m so excited to share the event schedule! They’ve posted everything happening over the two days, and it looks amazing. On the first day, at 11:00 AM PST, Battle Hour is showing Dragon Ball Super: Broly – the movie from 2018! But that’s not all – they’re also hosting a Dragon Ball Games Producer Match, which is a super fun four-on-four battle. And for those of us who love playing, there’ll be a DRAGON BALL FighterZ booth where we can actually get hands-on with the game, plus a bunch of other cool booths to check out. It’s going to be epic!
The event will mainly showcase games, but it will also feature a Dragon Ball Super panel with news about the upcoming remake film. Expected in Fall 2026, the film may get an official trailer and release date revealed at the event. Tickets are available now for early purchase on the website, and come with free gifts while supplies last. If you can’t attend in person, you can watch everything for free on the official Battle Hour YouTube channel. Details about the livestream, including the schedule, will be announced closer to the event date.
