Dragon Ball’s Biggest 2026 Event Has Major Update For Fans

Anime fans are getting ready for Jump Festa, a huge annual event where big announcements are usually made about popular series from Weekly Shonen Jump. This year, however, one major franchise will be absent: Dragon Ball. While series like Bleach, One Piece, and Jujutsu Kaisen will be featured, Dragon Ball fans have something else to look forward to. A Dragon Ball Genki Dama Festival has been announced for next month, and there’s exciting news coming soon about the future of the Z-Fighters.

The Dragon Ball Genki Dama Festival is happening in Japan on January 25th, 2026, and Toei Animation is making it accessible to fans worldwide! They’ll be live-streaming the event on their YouTube channel. Previously, fans had to rely on reports to find out what happened at these events. Now, Dragon Ball fans can watch the announcements themselves, but remember to account for the time difference to catch the live stream.

The Genki Dama Festival Details

The Genki Dama Festival will be a celebration of everything Dragon Ball, looking ahead to the future of the series and bringing together key people involved in its creation. Attendees include Akio Iyoku, the franchise’s executive producer, and Hironobu Kageyama, a well-known songwriter for the series. From the video game side, Masayuki Hirano, General Producer for Dragon Ball Games, and Jun Furutani, producer of Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero, will both be present. Rounding out the event will be popular hosts Victory Uchida and Victory Asada, who frequently work with the Dragon Ball franchise and will be keeping things lively.

It’s hard to say for sure what will be announced at the upcoming festival, but many fans are hoping for big news about the future of Dragon Ball in both manga and anime form – there’s still plenty of story to tell! The manga, now drawn by Toyotaro, has fallen behind schedule since Akira Toriyama’s passing, and we haven’t heard what Toei Animation has planned for the anime. Fans are eager for either a continuation of Dragon Ball Super or a second season of Dragon Ball Daima. Despite Toriyama’s passing, the future of the Dragon Ball universe looks promising, and we’ll find out more at next year’s festival.
