Now’s a great time to watch what many consider the best Dragon Ball movie – it’s available on Netflix! The Dragon Ball series is at an interesting point right now, especially after the recent passing of its creator, Akira Toriyama. The manga is currently paused, and the Dragon Ball Daima anime has finished airing. However, fans are hopeful that the anime will continue, and they’re eagerly awaiting news that might be revealed at a big event next year.
Despite a period of inactivity, fans still hope for new Dragon Ball anime because the franchise experienced a huge resurgence 12 years ago with the release of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. This movie reignited Akira Toriyama’s passion for the series, allowing him to create a brand new storyline and opening up a wealth of possibilities for Goku and his friends over the last decade. Now, fans can finally watch the film on Netflix.

There have been some really good Dragon Ball movies over the years that fans still enjoy, but Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods stands out as particularly important. After the widely disliked live-action film Dragon Ball Evolution, Toriyama himself said he was motivated to get involved with the new Dragon Ball movie being planned. He was so disappointed with Evolution that it actually inspired him to rewrite the script entirely and jump back into working on the anime, which really changed things for the better.
From then on, Toriyama remained a key creative force, starting with Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, where he introduced a new, god-like level of power for Goku and Vegeta. This ultimately paved the way for the incredibly popular anime series, Dragon Ball Super. Thanks to Toriyama’s continued involvement, Dragon Ball achieved the widespread popularity it has today.
Kicking Off a New Future for Dragon Ball

The Dragon Ball series was already well-loved thanks to the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. However, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods really updated the franchise for a new generation. Creator Akira Toriyama introduced a new set of powerful gods, giving Goku a fresh challenge. Fans have been enjoying the exciting results of this revitalization for the past twelve years since the film premiered in Japan.
Thanks to the success of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, the Dragon Ball franchise is thriving. This makes a new anime series feel possible, even without Akira Toriyama involved. Fans haven’t felt this optimistic in years, and it’s all thanks to this movie! You can watch it on Netflix.
