There’s no dancing around this injury.
Brandon Armstrong announced he is exiting the Dancing With the StarsTour after breaking his elbow.
I’m really upset to share that I’ve been having elbow problems for a while,” the 31-year-old explained in a TikTok video on April 25th. “It recently got worse while I was performing, and now it’s a real issue.”
After talking with the team doctors, the ballroom dancer was advised to return home and figure out the best plan to recover.
Even though Armstrong acknowledged things could have been more serious, he was still upset about not being able to continue participating in the live shows.
I’ll never forget hearing him talk about his early days on the show. He shared how much he wished he could have gone on tour back then. He’d watch his friends perform live and, more importantly, connect with us fans every single night, and he just really wanted that experience for himself. It was so relatable, and it really showed how much he values us.
Brandon explained he was really looking forward to meeting and spending time with everyone, so he’s finding it difficult to accept that he won’t be able to complete the tour, especially since they’re so near the end.
The dancer, who started with the show as part of the ensemble in season 24 and later became a professional in season 27, might not complete the tour, which wraps up on May 13th. However, he told fans he’ll be seeing them again soon.
The dancer explained that leaving the show a bit early will help them recover and get back to health faster. They’re really looking forward to seeing everyone at the Dancing With the Stars convention at the end of the summer and performing for the fans.
His fellow pro Alan Berstenand Ezra Sosa wished him a speedy recovery in the comments of his video.
Bersten sent a message saying, “Love you so much, get well soon! We’ll see you soon.” Sosa responded with a crying emoji, saying, “I’m going to miss you so much!”
Now that Armstrong is taking time off to heal, let’s take a look at other famous people who’ve dealt with injuries…

Nikki Bella, known from Total Bellas, shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit during an elbow slam by wrestler Piper Niven in a match that took place in July 2025.
She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, that they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she finished her current commitment, she would return to address the problem and make everything look perfect, because she planned to use them again and they needed to be in good condition.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.
She explained that growing up, many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of womanhood. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she’d been hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, causing a gap in her abdominal muscles.
Someone on X – you know, Twitter – messaged me, asking why I haven’t been posting lately. It was Suki! Honestly, it took me back a bit. I finally responded, explaining that about six months ago I wore these really tight pants and, well, it ended up giving me a hernia. I’ve been too embarrassed to mention it, but it’s been a whole thing, and that’s why I’ve been quiet!

In April 2025, the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star shared that he was recovering from surgery after experiencing a near-ruptured appendix.
Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained that his appendix had a perforation – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to doing so.
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder for Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.
According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, before suddenly collapsing. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.
Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, according to a statement from the National Women’s Soccer League posted on X. They reported that she is currently in stable condition and is alert.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from a childhood accident – he was hit by a cement truck when he was 11 – continue to bother him now.
In a 2025 interview on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast, Devine described the past year as “a nightmare.” He explained that he’s been experiencing spasms throughout his body and that doctors initially believed his condition was life-threatening.
He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying, “My body has a few quirks and isn’t quite working as it should.”

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital in severe back pain, reportedly crawling because it hurt so much. The pain flared up during a road trip with a friend while they were traveling in an RV.
He described a persistent tingling sensation in his legs, saying, ‘Even now, bringing my knees to my chest, it still feels tingly, which is really strange.’ He explained that just a few weeks prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor from 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.
The comedian later posted on social media to explain he’d actually gotten food poisoning and was starting to feel better.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a clay pigeon shooting trip when the incident occurred.
In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a gun unsafely. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped her, evaluated her injuries, and took her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye by less than an inch.
The former Kim Possible star shared that a small piece of something is stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, but they’re keeping a close watch on the situation. Thankfully, their vision is currently normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving and shared a heartfelt message about cherishing loved ones. She spoke about her deep affection for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, explaining that experiencing a near-death moment made her realize how quickly life can change. She urged everyone to hug their loved ones often, emphasizing the importance of appreciating every moment.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and facing criticism online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome – a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Schumer to realize she’d received steroid injections following a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, which she called “the greatest news imaginable.” Schumer shared this update in a February 2024 newsletter, expressing relief that she was healthy.

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son fully recovered, New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald told ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very lucky, and no parent should have to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to speak or move the right side of her face. Although these symptoms eventually subsided, she went to the hospital for testing. Doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot travel to her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), often called a mini-stroke. Further investigation at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, known as a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to reach her brain, causing the TIA. Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the rest of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on one side. He also mentioned it became increasingly difficult to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, calling the situation scary and random, but expressing gratitude that he was going to be okay.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the serious health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had previously kept private. He explained that while in Atlanta, he suffered a severe headache and asked for aspirin, but then lost consciousness. He doesn’t remember the next twenty days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became worried and took him to the hospital. There, doctors discovered he had a brain bleed that caused a stroke.
After surgery, twenty days passed before Jamie regained consciousness on May 4th. He woke up in a wheelchair, unable to walk, and began rehabilitation and therapy in Chicago. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed every single one.

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.
She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, everything went dark, but then she saw light, which led her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.

Oh my god, you won’t believe what Emilia Clarke went through! I’ve been such a fan since Game of Thrones, and I just read her essay in The New Yorker – it’s devastating. She was filming those intense battle scenes, but she was actually fighting a battle for her life! She described having this terrible headache at the gym, and then suddenly being violently sick. She knew something was seriously wrong with her brain. Turns out, she had a subarachnoid hemorrhage – basically a stroke caused by bleeding around her brain, from a ruptured aneurysm. They rushed her to the hospital, and she had emergency surgery. She said the pain was unbearable, and afterwards she couldn’t even speak properly, just mumbling nonsense! Thankfully, that passed, and she was eventually discharged after a month. But then, a scan in 2013 revealed the growth had doubled in size, and she needed another surgery! This one was even more terrifying – they had to open up her skull! Can you imagine?! She said she woke up screaming from the pain. It was so touch and go, the doctors weren’t even sure she’d make it. But she did! She’s now completely recovered, at 100%, and honestly, reading her story just makes me admire her even more. She’s such a warrior!

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always inspired by stories of resilience, and Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, is a perfect example. She recently opened up about a really scary experience – a severe stroke she had back in January of this year. Thankfully, her family was incredible. She told TopMob News that she immediately reached out to them, sending a text and a picture, and they all rushed to be there for her. It turned out she needed to stay in the hospital longer than expected, as she was also dealing with some lupus and kidney issues. But the good news is, Cori is doing so much better now! She says she’s really on the mend, and while she had to work on regaining some motor skills, she’s feeling great and is such a testament to strength and family support.

As a wellness advocate, I’ve always been fascinated by people’s health journeys, and Shailene Woodley’s story really resonated with me. She recently shared that her early twenties were incredibly challenging. She was dealing with a constellation of health issues – she actually lost some of her hearing, couldn’t walk for more than five minutes without needing to rest for hours, and experienced constant stomach pain. It was a confusing time, with different doctors offering different diagnoses.
Because I believe in a holistic approach, Shailene, with her background in herbalism, decided to combine working with traditional doctors and independent healers to find answers. It took a full decade of dedicated work, but she realized that the physical discomfort led to deeper issues – a fear of food, body dysmorphia, and a struggle with her identity and feeling safe in her own body.
Thankfully, after years of commitment to both her physical and mental wellbeing, Shailene is now thriving. She’s incredibly grateful to be healthy and feels so much more comfortable in her own skin. It’s a powerful reminder that healing is possible, even when the path is long and complex.
