Ever since Kyle Crane plunged into Harran back in 2015’s Dying Light, it’s been quite a trek for him. Post the incidents of The Following and his capture by The Baron, he reappears in Dying Light: The Beast, fueled by fury but driven by the thirst for revenge. In a fresh developer diary, franchise director Tymon Smektala discussed Crane and the slogan for the upcoming sequel.
The main change is that Kyle now possesses ferocious abilities akin to a beast due to the infection. Besides tearing apart zombies, these powers enable him to engage directly with Chimeras, which are the main adversaries in the boss fights. If you found the earlier suggested executions mind-blowing, Smektala confirms there will be many more of them when defeating Chimeras while Kyle is in his Beast Mode.
During his journey, Crane encounters people suffering under the rule of The Baron. Eventually, he’ll assist them in escaping his grasp, channeling his long-held resentment and pain from past trials into something positive. If it so happens that The Baron’s forces are weakened during this process, it can only be seen as a bonus.
The game titled “Dying Light: The Beast” will be available from September 19th on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It will also release later this year for Xbox One and PS4. Gain insights into the creative process behind Kyle’s revamped look and explore the recently disclosed PC specifications.
