Critics have praised Techland’s *Dying Light: The Beast*, and the game has also seen strong sales. It reached over a million pre-orders before release and recently peaked at 121,222 concurrent players on Steam.
That’s significantly less than the nearly 275,000 players who were playing *Dying Light 2 Stay Human* at its peak shortly after release. The first *Dying Light* was very well-received, which helped its launch. However, the sequel has had a more mixed response, particularly after several updates. Techland is now trying to improve the game, and positive feedback from players could help increase its popularity.
These numbers are currently just from Steam players. While PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S might have even more players, Techland hasn’t released sales data for those platforms yet. We’ll let you know when more information becomes available.
The new expansion for *Dying Light*, called *The Beast*, is currently only available on the newest PlayStation and Xbox consoles. However, it will be released for older PS4 and Xbox One consoles later this year. We gave it a great review – a nine out of ten – and especially liked the fighting, the game world, and its scary atmosphere.
