EastEnders airs devastating incident for fan-favourite character in early BBC iPlayer release

In EastEnders, Bea Pollard (played by Ronni Ancona) has taken a dramatic and vengeful step after being revealed as the one who stole Honey Mitchell’s (Emma Barton) identity.

The drama began when Honey went to Linda Carter’s school reunion as her guest, and they met Bea, who was going through a rough breakup. Bea moved into the Albert Square B&B to get back on her feet. She quickly unsettled Linda, who confided in Honey. Soon, Bea was living with Honey’s family and even managed the renovations happening on their house while they were on vacation in Cornwall. While looking around, Bea found Honey’s ID and, struggling with money, applied for a credit card using her birth name, Susan Mitchell.

She spent a lot of money – thousands, in fact – on a consultation with a specialist on Harley Street, and continued to enjoy expensive clothes and meals. When she realized she’d need to repay the money, she secretly asked Honey and her husband, Billy, for a loan, pretending it was for a deposit on a new apartment.

Everything started to fall apart in yesterday’s episode. Honey turned to the newly elected councillor, Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), for help with what she believes is identity theft, but he was too caught up in celebrating his election victory to really listen.

He hadn’t realized the local paper, the Walford Gazette, had started referring to Bea as ‘Mrs. Beale’ until his former wife, Cindy, pointed it out with a teasing question about whether they were now a couple.

He was eager for an explanation, so he rushed over to Bea and demanded to know what happened. She claimed it was just an accident, but confessed she’d paid to get him more followers on social media to help his campaign.

After discovering Bea had unfairly tried to damage the reputation of his colleague, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), Ian ended their relationship and told her to stop controlling people. Bea reacted with anger, kicking him out of the house and then insisting she was the one who had broken things off.

After sharing her side of the story with Honey and portraying herself as the one who was wronged, Ian discovered several bills made out to a name Bea had been using – Susan Mitchell. He immediately understood Bea was the one running the scam and rushed back to confront her with the truth.

I was really cringing for Honey in today’s episode! It was awful seeing her find out Bea had been running up debts in her name and then expected her to pay them off. So mortifying!

Even so, she realized her sneaky actions came from a desire to help the Mitchells and their teenage kids, Will (Freddie Phillips) and Janet (Grace). Billy wasn’t willing to accept her explanation, and demanded she leave before he called the police.

Honey worried about finding a place to sleep, and Bea attempted to manipulate the couple by saying she’d be forced to sleep in a shop doorway if they didn’t help.

She went outside at night, and after Billy hurt her feelings, she decided to get even. Seeing his ladder leaning against the house, she decided to tamper with its safety lock.

She didn’t know it at the time, but Honey, who had been nagging Billy all day to fix the leaky pipes, ended up climbing the ladder and falling off. From a distance, she saw Billy run to his wife, but she didn’t go to help.

Will Honey be ok, and is this the last we’ve seen of Bea?
