An old acquaintance of Linda Carter‘s will reappear in an upcoming EastEnders plotline, and a well-known comedian will be joining the show to play this character.
Ronni Ancona will join the cast as Bea, a former classmate of Linda (Kellie Bright). They reconnect at their high school reunion, but it quickly becomes clear they remember their past very differently.
Bea quickly becomes involved in all the excitement when she starts living in Walford. Although we don’t yet know much about her past, it’s clear she’ll have a significant impact on the people who live in Albert Square.
Janine Ancona is a well-known British comedian and impressionist, famous for co-starring in the award-winning BBC show The Big Impression with Alistair McGowan in the early 2000s. She became popular for her hilarious impressions of iconic EastEnders characters like Peggy Mitchell, Sharon Watts, and Kat Slater. Beyond comedy, she’s also showcased her acting skills in dramas such as Skins and Last Tango in Halifax.
Francesca Ancona expressed her excitement about joining EastEnders, calling it an ‘iconic institution.’ She said she’s thrilled to play the character of Bea, describing her as unpredictable and complex, and hopes viewers enjoy watching Bea as much as she enjoyed playing her.
As a long-time viewer, I’m really excited about this new casting news for EastEnders. Executive Producer Ben Wadey shared that they’ve brought in the incredibly gifted Ronni Ancona to play a character named Bea, and he’s keeping tight-lipped about the details! He described Bea as a bit of an enigma, and honestly, with an actress and comedian as talented as Ronni, I’m already hooked to find out what she’s all about.
Maisie Smith, who now goes by Ancona, has begun filming with the cast of EastEnders. Viewers will see her debut as her character, Bea, in episodes airing next year.
Linda isn’t currently appearing in EastEnders, as actress Kellie Bright is on a break while her character is away on a long cruise. Linda will return in an episode airing on Monday, December 15th.
