It’s said that Shirley Carter won’t be coming back to EastEnders, following her unexpected departure from the BBC series about two years back.
According to reports, Linda Henry, known for her portrayal of the powerful character Shirley from 2006 to 2022 on the Sun, has indicated that she won’t be reprising her role in the future.
In late December 2022, as Shirley departed Albert Square accompanied by her pet Lady Di, a sense of grief enveloped her due to the apparent demise of her son Mick (played by Danny Dyer). It seemed that he had met his end through drowning on Christmas Day.
During that period, Chris Clenshaw, who was the EastEnders producer at the time, stated that Henry would return to the series following a brief absence.
Initially, it appeared as if the door remained wide open for Shirley’s return, but it now seems like those plans have been abandoned. This disappointing turn of events is bound to leave fans feeling rather sad.

However, there’s some good news too! The beloved character, Henry, who was dearly missed, is set to rejoin his on-screen child, Dyer, in the upcoming second season of the acclaimed Sky comedy series, Mr Bigstuff.
Sampson labeled Henry as extraordinary, meaning we may still feel the absence of Shirley, but we can look forward to some fresh amusement courtesy of Pam.
