According to the BBC’s report, Jamie Borthwick, who played a significant role on EastEnders for nearly two decades, will no longer be part of the show. His tenure has come to an end.
A spokesperson for BBC Studios has confirmed that Jamie Borthwick will not be coming back to the show EastEnders, and they usually don’t discuss specific issues.
In June, Borthwick, who’s been portraying Jay Brown on the soap opera since 2006, was temporarily withdrawn from his role following the emergence of a video where he apparently used a derogatory term towards people with disabilities during his tenure on Strictly Come Dancing.
In the video shot at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Borthwick can be heard commenting: “By the way, Blackpool. Simply awful.

During that period, The BBC responded to The Sun with the following statement: “The language used is completely unacceptable and does not align with the values and standards we uphold at the BBC. We have stringent measures in place to ensure this doesn’t happen.
Borthwick expressed his heartfelt apology to the publication regarding his words in the video following Blackpool week on Strictly. He is truly remorseful for any offense or distress his words and actions may have caused.
I regretfully admit that I didn’t comprehend the offensive nature of the phrase I used. The fault lies entirely with me for not knowing its implications. Now that I’m educated about it, I am mortified by my actions and the way I employed the term. It was a mistake.
At this point, it’s clear that the last instances where Borthwick portrayed Jay Brown on screen have been broadcasted. It remains uncertain, however, how his character will ultimately depart the storyline.
TopMob has reached out to representatives of Jamie Borthwick for comment.
