EastEnders’ Lacey Turner addresses return after BBC soap exit

Last week’s episode of EastEnders was a tearjerker as beloved character Stacey Slater (played by Lacey Turner) said goodbye to Albert Square. There were plenty of emotional moments as she left.

When Max Branning (Jake Wood) returned, things quickly became complicated with his ex, Stacey. Max confessed his feelings for her were rekindled, but Stacey rejected him, telling him she was planning to leave.

Even though Lily (Lillia Turner) and her baby, Charli, didn’t join Stacey, she was happy for her mother to begin a new chapter in Brazil with Arthur (Rocco Brenner) and Hope (Isabelle Smith).

After such a dramatic departure, is a return to Walford possible for Stacey? Fortunately for fans, Turner has assured everyone that she won’t be away for good.

In a touching farewell video posted on YouTube, Turner received warm wishes from the cast and crew on her last day of filming. She then playfully reassured them, saying: “I will be back in a minute.”

Thank you all. I’ll be back soon, it won’t be long. I’m not good at giving speeches, but I really appreciate you all. I love you all very much, and this is a truly special place to work,” she said.

Back in May, it was announced that Lacey Turner would be departing the BBC soap to concentrate on her personal life and priorities outside of the show.

I was reading in The Sun that Lacey says it’s time for both of us to have a break. She’s not sure what Stacey will get up to while she’s away, but knowing Stacey, it definitely won’t be dull! She said it’s time for myself and Stacey to rest and see what happens.

A representative for EastEnders stated: “We can confirm that Lacey will be taking a break from the show later this year. However, there’s still lots of exciting drama planned before then, and we’ll work on Stacey’s return when Lacey is ready.”

Wow, what a year it’s been for Stacey! As a fan, I was absolutely gutted when she lost Martin Fowler (James Bye) in that incredibly emotional 40th anniversary live episode. It was a real rollercoaster of emotions, and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever forget it. It was such a shock!

Now that the Slater family is in charge of The Queen Vic and Lily remains a resident of the Square, there’s a good chance Stacey will come back, and we’re really excited about the possibility!

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
