Emmerdale’s Jaye Griffiths reveals future for Celia after shocking twist

Viewers are discovering there’s a hidden strength to Celia Daniels (played by Jaye Griffiths) in Emmerdale, as the actress has revealed her character is someone you don’t want to cross.

Viewers first met Celia earlier this year, and she quickly formed a friendship with Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) after a somewhat difficult beginning. However, no one anticipated that she was actually the one in charge of the drug operation being run by Ray (Joe Absolom).

Recently on screen, viewers saw Celia slap April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and scold her for a serious mistake. Celia warned April about the repercussions of her actions, and even threatened her if she didn’t cover up how she got the drugs and lie to the police.

It came to light that Celia discovered Ray homeless and living on the streets prior to adopting him. She then compelled him to follow her instructions and manage the drug trafficking business.

Jaye Griffiths explained the recent plot development: “Finally, the viewers understand the family connection between her character and Ray, and that she’s the one who orchestrated everything.”

We can expect even more intense moments ahead, but it’s now clear what’s really going on with this whole situation. Viewers will likely be worried about how stuck these children are, because it’s obvious that Celia and Ray are experienced in what they do.

Jaye has been aware of Celia’s secret since the beginning of her time on Emmerdale, and is relieved she can now talk more openly about future events.

“She’s the boss, there’s no one else, it’s her domain,” she told Metro.

She has managers who handle the day-to-day tasks, and she’s in charge of the overall operation. I was excited to hear they were casting a woman of colour as the powerful drug lord – fab.

People automatically think it’s Ray. He’s a handsome white man, and people just assume he’s in charge, but truthfully, he’s quite inexperienced when you compare him to Celia.

She went on, saying: “There are lots of challenges ahead. Oh my goodness [laughs], there’s much more excitement to come! It’s incredibly enjoyable! I know I probably shouldn’t be having this much fun, but I can’t help it. I’ll just mention that there’s a stunts coordinator involved, and that’s all I’m going to say.”

County lines is an increasingly common type of modern slavery and the exploitation of children in the UK. It involves gangs and organised criminal groups who move illegal drugs from cities to more rural areas, and they often use dedicated mobile phone lines to coordinate this activity.

“Ray turns up and he likes to sell the leaves [drugs] and it’s a bit of a county lines idea,” he explained. “I actually get kids, April and Dylan, to work for me and to play them cash. It’s quite good fun.”
