EastEnders reveals Vicki and Zack’s blackmailer in early BBC iPlayer release – and it’s not who you’d expect

Vicki Fowler (played by Alice Haig) was shocked to discover who was blackmailing her on EastEnders.

Vicki recently shared a romantic encounter with Zack Hudson after her bachelorette party. They’ve been attracted to each other before, even though Kathy Beale has cautioned them against getting into a serious relationship.

Okay, so Vicki confessed to her fiancé, Ross Marshall, that she’d cheated, but the really dramatic part is she wouldn’t tell him who she’d been with! As a soap fan, you just know that’s going to explode in his face eventually.

Little did the two realise at the time, someone had snapped a picture of their illicit encounter.

Things got worse when Vicki received a text message demanding £20,000, and she had to tell her brother, Mark (Stephen Aaron-Sipple), about it. He used software to trace the message’s origin, and it led directly to Lauren Beale’s (Jacqueline Jossa) house.

Cindy Beale and her son, Peter, both had solid alibis – they were at the movies when the message was sent, clearing them as suspects. Lauren had no idea what was happening, and neither did Ian Beale, until he suddenly realized what was going on.

He advised Vicki to tell Ross the truth before the blackmailer did. However, the blackmailer’s identity was soon discovered. While visiting Nigel Bates at his care home, Ian and Kathy noticed their grandson, Louie, was behaving oddly.

He seemed to be fixated on his phone, and quickly discovered why.

They brought him back to Albert Square to talk to Vicki, who demanded he remove the picture and keep quiet about everything. She was also surprised he even knew what blackmail was – he explained that his grandmother, Cindy, had once told him it could sometimes be a “necessary evil”.

Very Cindy.

Louie clarified he only requested the money to help Lauren and Peter with their fundraising efforts. They were trying to raise money to send his younger brother, Jimmy, to a specialized nursery.

Ian later confessed to Vicki and Zack that he felt bad about deceiving Ross. He believed Ross shouldn’t be marrying him, pointing out that their relationship was clearly built on a lack of trust.

He explained he couldn’t stand to be Ross’s best man at the wedding, and he was withdrawing from the role. Ian also stated that if he’d known Ross and Rachel were back together, he would have told Ross about it.

Things became really uncomfortable that night. Zack, feeling down, had been asked to fill in for Ian, and he agreed to avoid raising any alarms.

Will Louie keep quiet, and will Vicki and Zack be able to resist temptation?
