Bandai Namco and Game Studio just released a new gameplay trailer for their action RPG, Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online, during today’s Galaxies Spring 2026 event.
Here are the latest details, via Bandai Namco:
Players will battle in fast-paced, exciting combat as they explore the dangerous levels of the flying castle, Aincrad. With each level they complete, they’ll earn points to improve their character – boosting stats like stamina, strength, and agility to match how they like to play. They can also learn special skills and equip different weapons and armor. Regularly visiting the blacksmith to upgrade their gear will be key to becoming more powerful and taking on tougher enemies.
In Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online, simply having better gear won’t be enough to survive. Players will need to become skilled in combat and work with a partner who fights alongside them and follows commands. The game’s combat system, called ‘Switch,’ lets players quickly change roles and combine attacks. You can let your partner fight on their own, or time your attacks with theirs to share damage. Each partner has a special ability, so choosing the right one and using it effectively will be key to winning battles.
The game Echoes of Aincrad: Sword Art Online will be released in Japan on July 9th, and everywhere else in the world on July 10th. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam.
