“Ecstatic” Lily Collins Reacts to Landing Role as Audrey Hepburn

Lily at Tiffany’s.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news! Lily Collins is taking on the iconic role of Audrey Hepburn in a new film. It’s going to be a fascinating look behind the scenes of how the beloved classic, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, came to life, and Lily is understandably over the moon about the opportunity. I can’t wait to see her portrayal!

After nearly a decade of work and a lifelong love for Audrey Hepburn, she announced on Instagram on February 23rd that she was finally able to share something special. She said she was incredibly honored and excited.

The new movie will be written by Alena Smith, who created the show Dickinson. It’s based on Sam Wasson’s 2010 book, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.

Lily Collins, known for her role in Emily in Paris, will soon portray Audrey Hepburn’s famous hairstyle in a film. She has mentioned before that Hepburn, particularly from Roman Holiday, has been a source of inspiration for her.

Before Lily was cast, her father-in-law, Malcolm McDowell, explained the similarities between her and a famous classic Hollywood star. Lily is married to Charlie McDowell, the son of Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen.

In 2024, the Clockwork Orange actor praised Lily, calling her a star and expressing his admiration for her talent. He believes she’s among the best young actresses working today, and enjoys watching her perform, noting she possesses a captivating and unique quality reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn.

Lily has several acting projects in the works, including a new film called Close Personal Friends. She’ll be acting alongside Brie Larson and Meghan Markle, who is returning to acting for the first time in seven years since leaving the show Suits.

Lily, age 36, will continue to star in the popular Netflix series Emily in Paris when it returns for a sixth season, as announced in January.

The show was renewed for another season shortly after season five aired, which featured a major conflict between Emily Cooper and Mindy Chen.

Ashley explained in a December 2025 interview with TopMob News that the sisters have always maintained a strong bond and haven’t experienced any major fractures in their relationship. She believes this solid foundation will not only make their eventual reconciliation even stronger, but also contribute to their individual growth as people.

She explained that the most important thing is seeing the characters continue to develop, learn, and discover who they are. She also believes that people grow the most when they face unexpected challenges and difficult situations.

Lily agreed, though it was hard for the friends to pretend they didn’t get along.

Lily explained that their friendship and relationship are always their top priority – something they want to nurture, support, appreciate, and even push to grow. She added that this year was particularly difficult due to some unexpected and upsetting events.

She explained that if the show was going to address a difficult topic, it needed to fully explore the discomfort it caused. It couldn’t just be mentioned briefly and then quickly resolved within a single episode.
