As a huge fan, I can honestly say that Elden Ring is still one of the greatest games ever made, even after four years! And it’s not slowing down – with the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the Elden Ring Nightreign spin-off, and all the amazing stuff fans are creating, it continues to totally captivate me. And this latest discovery is just another example of why I can’t get enough!
Elden Ring: Dark Moon Is An Interesting Fan Expansion
Luna Alexander created Elden Ring: Dark Moon, a free mod for Elden Ring available on Nexus Mods. Originally released in 2022 and updated through 2024, Dark Moon completely changes the game, adding lots of new content and, importantly, a huge range of new cosmetic options.
The Dark Moon mod is a major update for Elden Ring, adding a ton of new content and features. Players can now enjoy new armor, weapons, items, and spells, along with greatly expanded character customization options. One of the most interesting additions is the ability to revive defeated bosses by interacting with the Ranni Puppet. While it costs one Larval Tear to bring a boss back, these are now conveniently available for purchase from the Twin Maiden Husks.
The Elden Ring: Dark Moon update introduces new content like The Arena and The Isle of Bounty. The Arena is a challenging combat mode found in colosseums throughout the Lands Between. By speaking with the Ranni Puppet, you can start waves of battles against different enemies, and your goal is simply to survive. The Puppet also acts as a merchant, selling armor and weapons in exchange for gold.
The Isle of Bounty is a calm and relaxing island home to a woman named Caretaker, who doesn’t remember her past. Players can customize her house with plants and animals, and fully stock her farm with everything the game offers. It’s a beautiful escape – the perfect place to unwind after facing tough challenges in the main game.
Elden Ring Modders Are Keeping The Game Alive
Beyond all its other additions, the Elden Ring: Dark Moon mod significantly improves combat, introduces new merchants, and puts a big focus on character customization. It effectively addresses any shortcomings in the original game and offers even more. This mod, along with the work of other Elden Ring modders, is keeping the game fresh and exciting while players wait to see what FromSoftware develops next. From simple survival tweaks to complete game transformations, there’s always a good reason to revisit the Lands Between in Elden Ring.
