Elden Ring Nightreign: How To Unlock The Duchess & Revenant Classes

As I embark on my adventure in Elden Ring Nightreign, I soon realize that not every character is available at the start. To gain access to the Duchess and the Revenant, I’ll need to complete separate in-game missions first. Each character in Nightreign has their own unique set of skills and traits. The Duchess, with her focus on dexterity, relies on stealth and swift movement to evade enemies while striking powerfully at the right moments. On the other hand, the Revenant serves as a summoner, excelling in conjuring and controlling phantoms to fight alongside her.

In Elden Ring Nightreign, these classes are exceptionally complex and may pose challenges for novice players embarking on their adventures. However, they can play a crucial role in forming strong team dynamics and become extremely potent once mastered. Here’s how you can unlock the Duchess and the Revenant in Elden Ring Nightreign:

1. Complete the main storyline up to a certain point.
2. Speak with specific NPCs who will provide you with questlines leading to these classes.
3. Follow the questlines, complete any required tasks or challenges, and eventually, you’ll be able to obtain the Duchess and Revenant classes.

How To Unlock The Duchess In Nightreign

Finding The Old Pocket Watch

It’s good to know that in the game Nightreign, unlocking the Duchess is quite straightforward, even from the early stages of play. To get started, you should finish the tutorial and open up Roundtable Hold. Then, embark on your first mission titled “Tricephalos.” Make it through at least a full day, and when night approaches, locate the marked spot on your map to face your initial boss, defeat them, and receive the Old Pocket Watch as your reward.

Approach the altar at Roundtable Hold during the festivities, where a woman in white robes stands near. Show her the pocket watch when given the chance. She’ll identify it as hers. You can choose to “hand over the pocket watch” or keep it. Hand over the pocket watch to the woman, and she’ll discard her robe revealing the Duchess – a character you’ve now unlocked in the game.

After successfully unlocking the Duchess, a pop-up featuring an image of her will appear, providing a summary of her abilities. You may find her nearby the altar, where you can engage in conversation if desired. To switch to the Duchess or any other character you’ve unlocked, simply interact with the bell located at Roundtable Hold.

How To Unlock The Revenant In Nightreign

Finding The Besmirched Frame

To access the Revenant, it seems you’ll need to have previously unlocked the Duchess or obtained the Old Pocket Watch first. Regardless of your approach, you’ll initially have to buy the Besmirched Frame from the Small Jar Bazaar, which is situated on the west side of Roundtable Hold. You should find it amongst the relics in the shop menu and can even use it as one. The Besmirched Frame will cost you 1,500 Murk, a currency you’ll earn naturally by playing the game.

Heading towards the east wing of Roundtable Hold now, I’d suggest you keep an eye out for a spectral figure gazing intently at a painting. If you approach her while carrying the Besmirched Frame, prepare yourself for an interaction that will whisk you away to the remains of a fort, setting the stage for a fierce battle against her spirit.

How To Defeat The Revenant In Nightreign

Beating The Revenant

In the game Nightreign, your main objective when facing The Revenant is to either evade or handle the spirits she conjures. While she might not be the most challenging boss you’ll encounter, she does have a large number of allies. This makes it relatively simple for you to find yourself in a precarious situation where multiple enemies surround you simultaneously, potentially leading to your untimely demise before you can inflict significant damage on her.

To put it simply, the Revenant is relatively sluggish and frail. It’s best to maintain aggression against her if you’re a melee character. As soon as the fight begins, she’ll conjure three phantoms. Keep these phantoms moving towards one edge of the battlefield, steering clear of the Revenant’s spells. Once all three are near you, make a beeline for the Remnant and start assaulting it. I discovered Wylder’s grappling hook to be quite useful for swiftly traversing back and forth.

For a different approach, consider picking a distant combat character such as the Ironeye or the Recluse. Essentially, you’ll be employing the same strategy, but instead of getting close to the Revenant, you’ll attack her from a distance.

After defeating her in combat, you’ll also have the option to control the Revenant character. You can do this by ringing the bell at Roundtable Hold, much like switching between other characters in Elden Ring Nightreign.
