FromSoftware’s planned release date for the next Elden Ring Nightreign update has been delayed.
Due to a tsunami warning in Japan, Nightreign’s upcoming update – featuring the much anticipated duos mode and significant user interface enhancements – has been postponed.
Elden Ring Nightreign update delayed
The Elden Ring Nightreign update, initially planned for launch on July 30, has now been postponed because of an earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula. This seismic activity led to a tsunami alert being issued.
Currently, a tsunami alert is causing many people to evacuate from various locations in Japan and along the western coast of the United States.
The Elden Ring Nightreign update, initially planned for release today, has been slightly delayed. Instead, it’s set to launch together with the game’s version 1.02 update on July 31, 2025, at 9AM British Summer Time.

Due to a delay in the game’s major update, the scheduled Elden Ring event, known as Nightreign’s Everdark Sovereign event, will take place later than originally planned. This is because the event won’t begin until after the update file has been disseminated.
After the update is launched, players will encounter more powerful variations of Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog. Although not entirely new characters to the game, the comeback of Everdark Sovereign bosses, particularly Gaping Jaw, has led to a significant 69% increase in player numbers.
Software House hasn’t finished tinkering with Elden Ring: Nightreign yet. Although the game’s post-launch patches have been relatively minor since its debut, the team intends to enrich the multiplayer roguelike experience by incorporating fresh adversaries, bosses, items, and additional content in the future. As of now, specific details about these updates remain undisclosed.
After the launch of Nightreign, the studio’s upcoming major release is an exclusive Play vs Play vs Experience game for the Nintendo Switch 2, titled The Duskbloods. Following this, the studio has hinted at going back to the type of single-player games that players are accustomed to, although no specifics have been disclosed yet.
