One showed the ruins of the Church of Marika, which is a huge deal because it’s dedicated to Queen Marika the Eternal – she’s basically the most important character in the game. She’s the one who holds the Elden Ring, you know?

A live-action Elden Ring movie is being made by A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment, with Alex Garland writing and directing. The film will be produced by Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, George R. R. Martin, and Vince Gerardis, and is currently slated for release in May 2025.

The highly anticipated game Elden Ring was developed with direction from Hidetaka Miyazaki of FromSoftware, and its story was crafted by George RR Martin, the author best known for A Song of Ice and Fire. Now, filmmaker Alex Garland will adapt the game into a movie, serving as both writer and director to bring its expansive world and challenging gameplay to the big screen.

Elden Ring, launched in 2022, is a fantasy action game where players take on the role of a character trying to restore the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord. It’s been a huge success, selling over 30 million copies worldwide.

While A24 hasn’t officially revealed the cast yet, reports suggest Kit Connor was being considered for a role. Connor previously starred in A24’s 2025 war movie, ‘Warfare,’ directed by Garland and Ray Mendoza.

Alex Garland is once again working with A24 on a new project based on the game Elden Ring. He’s previously directed several films for the studio, including Ex Machina, Men, Civil War, and Warfare.

Elden Ring does not have a release date.
